    WEC 6h Nürburgring

Couldn't find an exisiting thread on the WEC-stage at the Nürburgring this weekend.

Currently Porsche leads in LMP1 and LM GTE Pro, let's hope they can take it home. Our own Futch is third in class at the moment, let's cheer him on! Smiley

And a clean sweep for Porsche! 1-2 in LMP1 and 1-2 in LM GTE Pro! angel

Even three stop-and-go's couldn't keep the 17 Porsche LMP1 from second place, brilliant drive! Congrats as well to our own Futch for third in GTE Am, truly a solid drive. I think save an error from his co-driver it was a clean race for them and a deserved podium, it could easily have been second.

    Re: WEC 6h Nürburgring

Thank you guys! A bitter sweet podium. Rui had the accelerator stuck in the last fast chicane at the beginning of his first stint, every pilot's nightmare!

We lost one lap and spent most of the race catching up, it felt like LM24 all over again. Podium is nice but we could have won, the speed was there. Really tough race, super hot weather, the ventilation in the 458 is a joke, and the track is quite tight compared to the other WEC venues, so it was quite tough dealing with traffic, I had a contact with a Porsche LMP1 during FP3, turned out to be my mate Romain! It was quite funny being summoned to the stewards after the session to explain ourselves.

The NBR is a truly awesome place, I did a few laps of the Nordschleife yesterday, I had brought my M3 CRT and my RS4.0 from Paris, what an amazing track, complete bonkers!

I have some really cool info on future porsche models from my mates works drivers. 911R is coming soon, super light, narrow body, very limited edition, some sort of ducktail but very discreet and manual gearbox. Yes please!

Some other very special models coming soon but I cannot say anything yet, I promised to keep my mouth shut.

I had heard rumors about this as well, I was left wondering whether it will be a Motorsport-car (GT3-engine and suspension, ...) or rather a lightened GTS with exotic materials. I was lead to believe finish and materials will also be up a notch, think Singer-like details.

With a limited car like the 911R, how is it possible for anyone other than 918 VIP customer to get an allocation?

    Well done Futch!

It is being rumored that Porsche have been convinced (by ACO) to run an updated 991RSR for 2016. Are you able to confirm?

Is the rumored Mid-engine GTE Porsche for 2017 still on the cards?

    Re: WEC 6h Nürburgring

    Great race!great Porsche!

hope they will race official with the updated RSR in 2016 too!

Great race Futch, congratulations!! I was there and saw you during the Grid Walk before the start but you were tied Up so I could mit say hello

    Re: WEC 6h Nürburgring

    ...could not say hello

    Re: WEC 6h Nürburgring

The ACO is puting a lot of pressure on Porsche for sure. For me, they will be there, it's just politics. The 10kg break was a nice little help. Next year they will have the aero package from the US car, more downforce. But Ferrari will have the Turbo engine, should be a good fight.

Completely new car for 2017 still on, can't say more.

    Re: WEC 6h Nürburgring

    olli:

    ...could not say hello

No worries, Olli, during the autograph session, a Young guy asked me to sign the Pilot card: For Rennteam! Smiley I can't remember his Pseudo though.

Car Wise, it was like porn this weekend, there was a Keonigsegg one:1, owned by one of the Aston bosses, impressive built quality, not sure about the looks, the door mechanism is awesome. Plenty of GT3RS everywhere, the orange looks much better in sunlight, there was a grey one which looked very dull. Violet is ok, not flashy enough for an RS for me.

A quick easy tip for RS owners to get more downforce and even less understeer, remove the mesh under the grills on the front wings. You can also add flicks derived from downforce package of the Cup car, but you need connections at Motorsport department to order them.

This car is a weapon. Even I admit, that during my north loop lap in the RS 4.0, I was losing too much time shifting and because I'm less and less used to it, my heel and toe wasn't always a perfect match to the lower gear. All pilots who have tried both cars though confirm that the Metzger unit is much better, it's a race car engine and it feels it. The drive back to Paris was horrible, I had forgotten how loud the car was.

The consensus is that the RS 4.0 is a civilised 997 Cup, and the 991 RS is a super 991 GT3 which makes sense, considering the 991 Cup uses the Metzger unit and narrower body than the 991 RS. Still a fantastic machine. But not a true raw RS for purist.

    Watch this space...Smiley

    Re: WEC 6h Nürburgring

I did a few quick laps on the North Loop with my GT3 RS als well, frankly it is getting crazy fast for this demanding and comparatively dangerous track, but the car seems to feel right at home there.

    Re: WEC 6h Nürburgring

Futch. Congratulations. We are a few fellow from Rennteam here at the moment for the scuderia course. 3 days of Nordscheife all to ourselves, nearly !! blush

I'm getting old! During the race we have moulded ear plugs and my ears are still ringing afterwards. So you can imagine that after that, 4 hours going home in the 4.0 at 200kph all the way was not pleasant!

Those north loop laps made it worth it though. What a track! I have to enter a couple of VLN races next year.

Lol I can imagine. These GTE 458's are insanely load even when you're trackside. I can barely talk in my RS, I'll never argue these are silent cars either!

If you get the opportunity to race on the Nordschleife, I would jump on it, it's such a brilliant track...
