    Are turbo engines still to be run-in?

    Hi all,

    Any thoughts if we need to run-in Porsche engines?

    I was asked to take it easy (<4000revs) for the first 1500km when I picked up my X5 4.8is.

    It's still a couple of months away before I get the keys of my Cayenne turbo but the question has been on my mind for a wee while.

    Any thoughts? I have added a poll to find out if people would take it easy or straight hammer it .

    My CTT took forever to break-in. Oil consumption remained high until I took a couple of long trips. After that, no problems!

    i believe the manual says take it easy for 3,000 km so double your poll number.

    it will be tough to execute, but good in the long run.

    Ahaaa, you answer my question from a different thread. 3000km sounds not too bad as it would probably take me only just over a month I think. I am not a real maniac anyway, I cannot remember when I last took my X5 to the 6500RPM, I think done it once or twice and only because one of my fellow road members was behaving like a complete ido...te

    Tried to change my poll but unfortunately the time has expired to change data, so by this 1500km is actually 3000km in real life .

    it will take me 4 months or more. depends on how much i continue to use the 4s.

    you may find the Porsche engine likes being revved. i run the rev's up on the 4s much more ofton and higher then i ever did with my M3.

    I'm at 2600km. Following the break-in by not exceeding 4000rpm. The truck is already too fast during this break-in period. You will not be disappointed.

    Got it end of Sept. Yes, I know I didn't drive it enough.

    My Dad just got his CTT today. Will go over and take some pictures tomorrow.

    1,500km w/normal driving should be fine, just drive it everyday for 1 ~ 2hrs w/o hard braking and you'll be fine.

    1,900km here and enjoying it

    I got 2 SUVS with 500hp that's why she's under 2000km
