    This strategy might help promote the EV replacements for the Boxster/Cayman twins which should debut later this year. More critically how many enthusiasts would consider a two seat four door sedan over a 992 GT3 RS or GT4 RS?   That universe is probably fairly small.  There are many comments about how Porsche is going to deal with the glut of used Taycans building up in many markets.

    That new Purple Sky Metallic colour looks absolutely awesome, my new favourite colour atm. 

    When I show the laguna Seca intro to my gf, she was like the Taycan looks absolutely awesome with that "cute little wing", and like shall we buy that instead of the Macan EV. 

    But I am like, hmm, it's an EV, I don't need that much HP in a EV, there is nothing wrong with those 4-500hp 4Ss and those might be too much already, and I have had 2 of those before.

    Need to investigate the availability of the new colour, hopefully it's not locked to Taycans for the time being, as it would look absolutely awesome on a Panamera too, or a Cayenne, or a 992.

    Press release suggests that the color is exclusive to the Taycan Turbo GT for the first year.

    I have to admit that I am disappointed with Porsche regarding the Taycan Turbo GT. If they want to compete with Tesla and the Plaid, they need to destroy it or...just don't care about it. They did neither. Sad.

    Tesla has done a good job of maximizing the “one run” peak performance of the Plaid. I suspect the Porsche can deliver that same performance repeatedly. In that sense, it does destroy it.

    Correct, Tesla has sensationalized the specifications and where we know that Porsche underpromises and overdelivers.  We also know that there are marginal diminishing returns with, for example, 0-60 mph times as the ultimate limits of traction are being reached.

    I don't think Tesla should be discussed in the same context as Porsche. Two different things.

    Porsche are the masters of chassis engineering and kings of endurance on the road and the track. Tesla are a very good EV producer.

    Tesla's characteristics suit many people in the same way as a good washing machine or other appliance satisfy. In my view Tesla cars have no soul and raise no excitement and desire even in their styling.

    Tesla must be commended for re-inventing the EV in the modern era. But since 2009 most traditional car manufacturers as well as many new Asian firms produce an abundance of EVs that can challenge. Tesla made their name when they were alone.

    The Taycan GT was under development before Tesla announced the Plaid, so it wasn't Porsche 'aiming' to destroy it. It had already been planned to be part of the lineup. It just happens to be fastest than the Plaid once it's done and released.

    Remember I said I saw it being tested at Nardo during my visit there a few years ago?

    That wing? It's exactly the same wing I saw at Nardo.

    The Porsche Turbo GT’s closest competitor is not the elderly Tesla Model S Plaid but instead is the Lucid Sapphire. The Porsche is definitely the most performance oriented of the three with the Tesla needing the brake upgrade package even to be close beyond the one dimensional acceleration statistics.  Recall that Tesla uses a one foot rollout in its stated 0-60 mph time.

    That seem more like click bait as most of the numbers quoted are on paper representations versus real world numbers. That will come with time.  The Porsche USA website does have the Weissach model with the rear seat delete but shows sports seats not the racing shells shown in the ROW Porsche media material.  Ever since Porsche was founded there have been cars with a performance statistic or two better than a Porsche model and at a lower price but Porsche has always continued to prosper.  Porsche’s latest YoY numbers increases by 7.7% and the ASP is $128,000.  Porsche is doing fine financially.

    The performance target they want to exceed for the turbo GT is their own turbo S. Porsche never 'chase' others, they set the benchmark themselves and let others to try and match them. 

    Succeeded, but the product isn't a very useful car, as it is without backseats. The Plaid at least have a full interior but have less performance. It's up to Elon now to see if he will go down the mad path to take out the Plaid's backseats in order to match the Taycan GT. 

    So the Taycan turbo GT has become Taycan line's GT3RS. A limited scope car that's not for the mass market but for a very small niche.

    The Taycan turbo GT is a car when the engineers has more say than the accountants. We should be thankful that once in a while, the accountants take a backseat at Porsche.

    That’s not quite correct as the Weissach sub-variant of the Turbo GT is the one with the seat delete.  The standard Turbo GT retains its rear seats and multi-speaker stereo system along with other luxury items.  It also has a retractable rear spoiler and not a wing as found on the Weissach version. In the States, the price is the same for both variants.  While the times aren’t reported for the standard Turbo GT model, it is still significantly quicker than a Tesla Plaid or Lucid Sapphire around the track.  Also notice that Porsche didn’t resort to a tri-motor configuration but instead opted for a silicon carbide 900 amp power inverter system.  Rimac is supplying some of the key components according to reports.

    My Mercedes SL63 has a similar system and it is quite amazing how well it works. It is called AMG Active Ride Control.

    Yes and Mercedes has had this system for many years in various forms.  Audi too has a similar system for its A8 and S8 but the Porsche system is different in that it is utilizing the 400 volt battery pack to energize the system.  This means more power, watts which is equal to amps times volts, is available for the system.  Both the Mercedes and Audi systems rely on 48 volt systems. The Porsche system may have a higher response frequency than the other systems too.  I’m currently checking sources to determine if this is absolutely correct.
