    Re: Porsche Racing Experience

There are a very small number of exceptions though. The one in Nick’s turbo is one. A decent factory head unit would be another (they have some but they are super expensive and already obsolete). AM allowed a factory Bluetooth streaming upgrade with firmware to go with for my 08 Roadster. I find that gesture to be amazingly customer friendly.

    Re: Porsche Racing Experience

I thought about finding an old factory period correct Blaupunkt radio, but I realized that unit will be just for looks, I would ended top added something else just to get SiriusXM, bluetooth, navi, etc and cluttered up the car.

So the PCNR is a great compromise, plus, it's a factory Porsche part.

for 93,94 and most 3.6turbo,CDR22,or CDR 210 was the factory installed radio. I bought Yatour and I checked, everything is working perfect (bluetooth, flash for music )and all are hidden in container insert in lower dash. Navigation?, never need it,your phone is good enough. Still, I think this is best way to keep it original, but PCNR is sexy tho.

My car originally came with cassette radio as it came with the cassette storage in the centre console, I believe it would have been the CR1.

Don't like attaching window mount just to set the phone there, also don't like having power cable running across the interior to keep the phone charged. I prefer to have the interior clean. The only compromise might be if I mount a radar detector, but then again I was never going fast enough to get in trouble in the 3.6 Smiley

    Re: Porsche Racing Experience

In my 993, I replaced the original head unit with a more modern Becker unit with aux-in for MP3 etc and rudimentary navi capabilities.  Looked pretty stock but much more useful.  Never even had to even cut the wiring - just plug and play.

Also replaced the original cassette holder with a storage tray - original part, but much cleaner-looking and more useful.

Kept the originals, just switch them back in again if anyone wanted to be super-keen.

    Re: Porsche Racing Experience

Dave, the yatour I'm talking about is also very clean, you just hook it up at back and no cutting, and do mic wires along the dash,so its clean too.

I also hooked the amplifier and everything seems working good, again, not much of use as you have 6 cylinder singing at back

    Nice kiss

Yes, I remember that  connector. I’m all for not screwing too much with future classics - but at the same time happy to switch things in temporarily if they make life more pleasant. Just make sure it can be returned to stock without trace..

Yeah I took out my cassette storage and put in that tray too.

    Re: Porsche Racing Experience

Back to Racing Experience.  Would be great to hear more on Level 2, and what Level 3 holds for the few on this forum who are venturing down the racing road
