    Motorola Bluetooth

I had the motorola bluetooth installed last week. I've spent the weekend driving about and testing it. The callers on the other end state that I sound 'tinny' and 'distant'. I'm ok with the tinny part but i want them to be able to hear me .... so the distant thing is an issue. When i'm driving 40+MPH thats when most people say that i sound distant and that there is a muffled sound in the background. I assume the muffled sound is the sweet porsche engine. The microphone is tucked into the upper right hand corner of the windshield. Has anyone else had a handsfree device installed and where is your microphone installed?

I informed the installer that i want to move the microphone but he is resisting. This was his comment about moving the microphone: "Anything short of clipping it on your shirt collar would yield no noticable or practical audio clarity". I assume if the microphone was attached to the sun visor - which is a few inches closer - that it might help somewhat. Anyone have any experience with this....

Desperately trying to get a workable phone solution!

    Thanks,
    GG

CORRECTION: the microphone is in the upper left hand corner of the windshield.

    Re: Motorola Bluetooth

    GG,
I'm having mine installed in @ 10 days...Whenever my car FINALLY arrives!!!
Don't know why the installer is resisting, it's not exactly difficult to move the mike...The supplied method of attachment is only velcro pad. Wouldn't put it on the sun visor. Try two thirds the way up the windshield pillar. Why don't you have someone sit in your car and call you (to hear for yourself) If you keep asking your callers what they think, it's possible that you are drawing their attention to something they wouldn't normally notice/comment about. Now if they say sorry can't hear you, it sounds cr$p, then there is a problem.

Is the system responsive to you commands...If it is then I doubt there's a microphone placement issue as the system wouldn't be able to 'hear' you.

Do you have a reasonable expectation of the system.
What phone are you connecting with. If you have bad signal strength on connection, the bluetooth isn't going to improve it

    JFraser,

The system is responsible to my voice commands when the car is standing still or not really revving. If i'm going more than 40+MPH then the system doesn't 'hear' or recognize my commands. I think it is the engine background noise. When i was on the highway i even tried yelling at the top of my voice but to no avail.

    i'll keep trying.

    Re: Motorola Bluetooth

The Parrot system is very good, I also tried the Jabra visor attached portable bluetooth handsfree and that is also good.

    Re: Motorola Bluetooth

    GG
That sounds like a problem...I had the parrot system installed in a Ferrari 360 (which I've gotta believe has a louder interior noise than the Porsche)...I didn't have a problem...Mind you I never used the phone above 90 mph...would rather concentrate on the road. I would try the mike in a different location. These really shouldn't be compromise systems, their sound and functionality should be almost flawless...What phone are you using it with?

    Re: Motorola Bluetooth

I'm using the motorola V710. (Verizon Wireless)

    Re: Motorola Bluetooth

The installer won't move the microphone. He states that moving the microphone will not make the voice recognition work any better. He states that it is one of the tradeoffs you have to accept when you purchase a sportscar. Sportscars are louder so microphones don't work as well. WHAT A BUNCH OF xxxx!! I am batting ZERO when it comes to finding a workable phone solution.

Can anybody recommend a high-end installer in the Manhattan area....NOT technik1!!!!

    GG
