I'll wait to see what's available in a couple of model years - after all the 991 3.4 is not ery different from the 981 3.4...

I wouldn't get your hopes up - Porsche will, as always, keep a distance in power between 981 and 991. Just bear in mind that the current 981S PDK is actually faster than a manual 991 3.4, at least according to Autocar's road tests.
I got some hope with the rumoured 981 Turbo if it ever arrives. Given there are Panamera and Cayenne models that are equal or faster then the 911 and that the VW ownership could have a different view on 981 versus 991.
I believe less in keeping a distance to the 991 due to power or performance, but more due to the pricing compared to the 991. The relative lower price for the 981 has IMHO locked it in to the current power and performance. If there is a 350-360hp 981 Turbo coming out which outperforms the N/A 991, how will it be priced? Still considerably lower then 991? Or with a huge price hike to align it with the 991?
