    Need feedback, please reply....

    Guys,

Need help with 997 turbo, would really appreciate some help! The car has been tuned by Cargraphic with their kit1, also a complete exhaust incl. manifold etc... which gives app. 560hp (has transformed the car, comp. different from stock). However, when driving the car today something went wrong, when acc. there is no power. I can hear the turbos starting to work but still no power. Also, when car is stopped and on low revs it just stops (stalls). There is also abit of alarming smoke coming from the exhaust when starting it. What might be the problem? Everything is fine on the display (no lights) and oil pressure perfect. What do you guys think, problems with software or hardware? Input greatly appreciated!

    Thanks!

    Re: Need feedback, please reply....

I start with the "easiest" part: it may be one of the tubes to the intercoolers/turbochargers, check out if one of them (or both) didn't slip away. Sorry for my bad English, I don't know how to explain it better. Otherwise, you may be in serious trouble.
As far as I know, Cargraphic kit 1 delivers 544 HP, the changes to the car are only "superficial" (exhaust, motronic software and airfilter), the exhaust system is actually the most expensive part. If you installed the manifolds too, they actually don't provide additional power.

The smoke which appears when starting may not be anything special. Sometimes this happens when the car was parked for a couple of days/weeks, it can also happen when you fill up too much oil or it can happen out of the blue, this is something very common with these drysump lubrification Porsche engines with a seperate oil tank (993/GT1 derived).

    Good luck!

The first thing that comes to my mind is also that a tube has a hole or that it came out :
It has happen to me on an Audi and I had the same thing as you. I could hear the turbos but no power as pressure was lost due to a hole in one of the pipe ( tuyaux)

    Re: Need feedback, please reply....

maybe something not well fixed, maybe an intercooler manifold that due to the higher pressure comes out from his place..in that case nothing bad..

it happens me a lot of times to me with my former Lancia Delta Integrale a few years ago,and i remember i must take up the revs at low rpm if not it stalls..
Sure here we are talking of a different car,but last week a friend on a 997 Turbo after changing the exhust has no boost pressure etc. and his dealer find a manifold out of his place, due to the bad fix after the exhust change

    so,maybe is a similar thing

    Hope the best for you

    Re: Need feedback, please reply....

Thanks for your input! Just wanted to let you guys know that it was only a tube to the intercooler that was slightly loose. Car is running great again!

    Re: Need feedback, please reply....

Happened to me once too on the track. The passenger side IC outlet duct came loose and the car still ran, albeit with less power. Coming into the pit it stalled. The connections are not bulletproof especially when dialing the boost into the 1.2+ bar zone.
