    I haven't yet got the occasion to test drive the C2S because of a delay to my dealer but this article makes me curious!

    It's a contrary opinion against RC's mogelpackung (what you see is not what you get) description of the base Carrera. Interesting

    Car magazine reviewed the C2S last month and totally loved it. It's all very well them saying that you will have saved yourself six grand, but once you add on some of the extras, you end up getting close to the S price anyway. For example, the 19" wheels, the bi-xenons etc etc.

    My dealer said that here in the UK most people are going for the S.

    Of course you can save 6 grand by buying the 997 Carrera instead of the Carrera S. You can save even more money if you go for a new 996 in dealer showrooms. And even more if you don't buy a Porsche at all and get a Daewoo.
    Take the 30 additional horses, take the PASM (or 20 mm chassis incl. LSD), take the Turbo brakes (330 mm front/rear), take the 19'' wheels with wider tires. Now tell me: are you sure you "save" 6 grand?
    Porsche expected a 1:1 ratio in 997 sales over here in Germany, meaning half 997 Carrera and half 997 Carrera S.
    Now it seems that two thirds of the customers are ordering the Carrera S and this might create a 997 Carrera S "shortage" in the first production year. Of course the 997 Carrera is no bad 997 and it is worth buying it but it really depends what you want from a 911.
    PASM is a very nice feature, especially for a daily driver when the 20 mm chassis might be too "much". More power never hurts, even if it isn't really substantially more. But there is also the engine/exhaust sound which is better on the "S", not to forget about the sport exhaust availability for the "S" only for the moment.

    For somebody who just enters the 911 world and who doesn't want to spend too much money, the 997 Carrera is just the right car. But add a little bit of this and that and you get a price tag similar to the 997 Carrera S.

    Saving $10K? Spending $75K is not saving ... : )

    Anyhoot. This is the first journo attempting to tilt the other way. Personally, I think the S is the deal as a whole car (power, suspension, brakes) while the Carrera falls short.

    i think that a (surely short) drive in some pouring,wet and unknown german cowtry road has a significance near to ZERO if you have to judge the difference between two different versions of a 911...

    Thanks a lot I was aiming for a 997s but in reality I wont track, wont autocross. I'll light it up on the on ramps, off ramps, have fun around the hills and corners where I live... So

    Bottom line is base Carrera would do for me as well as the S... bummer, hey what about the M6 jk
