some NEW 997 GT3 spy shots...

    close ones...

Re: some NEW 997 GT3 spy shots...

Those have been around for awhile what make you think it is a GT3 and not just the aerokit

Re: some NEW 997 GT3 spy shots...

take a look at the central mounted exhuast.

Re: some NEW 997 GT3 spy shots...

Thanks for the shots. I like what I see .

After some real specs I may be able to convience the wife that it's time for a new car .

Re: some NEW 997 GT3 spy shots...

Also the GT3rs style vents in front of the bonnet

Re: some NEW 997 GT3 spy shots...

Wow, white with black wheels looks hot.

Re: some NEW 997 GT3 spy shots...

yup, starting to like it already!

Re: some NEW 997 GT3 spy shots...

    Awesome!!

Re: some NEW 997 GT3 spy shots...

the front is great but I think the back ironing board is too fussy. I prefer a little more understated.

Re: some NEW 997 GT3 spy shots...

    mamma mia!!!!what a car!!!!!

Re: some NEW 997 GT3 spy shots...

Best GT3 ever imo. I hope the specs can prove it!

Re: some NEW 997 GT3 spy shots...

great look !!!! Love the front!!!

Re: some NEW 997 GT3 spy shots...

The single twin pipes in the rear seems odd. All 911 variants upto this point had two sets of pipes at each end. The 997S has a set of two twins (yes, I know there are fake). Now the GT3 has only one set of twins. Now if I was an uneducated Porsche person, I just might think that the GT3 had the smallest engine of the three (997, 997S, 997 GT3), a Boxster engine maybe?

Re: some NEW 997 GT3 spy shots...

It does look odd but the centrally mounted twin pipe is actually derived from the 996GT3Cup & 997GT3Cup, and it seems the street 997GT3 will also get it this time, unlike the street 996GT3. Though IMO most people on the street will relate it to the Boxster instead of the Cup cars.
Inspite of this I hope the 997GT3 gets a centrally mounted exhaust since that will make it more differentiable from the Carreras fitted with the aerokit... the poseurs who slap on a fake GT3 badge on those carreras will have a more dificult time to imitate a GT3

Re: some NEW 997 GT3 spy shots...

Can't wait to test drive this car when it comes out. It's going to be difficult to choose between this and the upcoming 997 turbo when I trade my 997S in (in 2-3 years).

Re: some NEW 997 GT3 spy shots...

    Easy ...

    AWD(active differentials?) vs RWD
    PSM vs no PSM
Turbo power (490HP?) vs high reving N/A power delivery (400HP?)
    +/-1550Kg vs +/-1400Kg
Streetable ride (PASM?) vs trackable ride (traditional suspensions with rear LSD)
Around Euro 140k vs Euro 110k
Rear seats vs no rear seats
Street oriented performance vs track oriented performance

Ok, I want one of each now

Re: some NEW 997 GT3 spy shots...

    2006 Porsche "997 GT3"

1996 Chevron Gasoline Toy Cars " Sam Sedan "

Now we know where Porsche has been recruiting it's design team :

    Chevron Cars

Also, yellow calipers means CC brakes. Nice!

Re: some NEW 997 GT3 spy shots...

I personally welcome the center exhaust. Although I don't know the truth of it, supposedly there are some power gains to be had in doing the exhaust this way. Also, I don't really care if the average person thinks that the 4 pipe on the carrera S is more impressive. I know what's for real performance and what's not and just knowing it's on the cup cars and is designed for performance makes the center exhaust look better to me. But the most important thing is that the standard exhaust weighs WAY too much and adds pounds to the heaviest end of the car. You can save something like 50 pounds by removing the mufflers and 20-30 pounds by switching to aftermarket mufflers on the 996 GT3. Hopefully Porsche is saving some weight off the rear (important place) with the new setup.

I would take the turbo. With a 90hps advantage, the turbo will be quicker and faster on the street and on the track. Plus, you still get all the creature comfort of an everyday driver.

    RC,

can you confirm these photos???? thanks!!!!
