To be fair. RBR follows the same tactics, only in a more subtle way. They gave Webber's front wing to Vettel, when the German broke his and they always instruct the Toro Rosso guys out of thw way.

Smiley Sorry, but swapping spare parts is common practice by the teams.

So is having a hierarchy. I am not complaining; I am just stating the obvious. Other people don't like strategies. I am fine with them.

Re: 2012 US F1 Grand Prix in Austin

Leawood, you have amazing luck! It was a great race and kudos to the organizers -- every employee I met was excited, engaged and well trained. You could feel that they felt they were part of something important. I stood at the top of the hill 16 months ago when it was all just an earth-moving exercised and was skeptical about their ability to make it happen. Skeptic no more.

Had the chance two weeks before the race to go out and jog around the track and get a feel for the terrain changes and the quality of construction. And next spring the local Porsche club chapter will have a DE at the track, so I'll have a chance to improve my lap time. Smiley

Great weather and a great race. Turn 12, at the end of the DRS straight, was where the Porsche and Ferrari Clubs had seats and it was where most of the important action was. Don't think I'll ever forget Button and Raikkonen re-enacting Ben Hur around that corner wheel to wheel.

I've been observing that for almost 40 years now. Uncanny just seems such a major understatement. Smiley

Re: 2012 US F1 Grand Prix in Austin

Leawood, thanks for your photos. It is always nice to discover a ' face' , but now , watch out, you are not anonymous anymore indecision

You seem to have had a wonderfull time , and I don't know how you got those tickets, as I heard many times that they all had been sold out in one our .

Did you meet your GF at one of your ' exchange' party ?  smiley I bet you will get now softer on Obama indecision

    Hi Gnil

FYI I have known her for more than three years. No I did not meet her at a swap meet. Lol. She is a wonderful person and her color was never considered. Funny thing is she considers Obama half black. I don't see color only that she is beautiful inside and out. Obama is just on the wrong side of my politics. That's all.

Re: 2012 US F1 Grand Prix in Austin

Sorry - this is a great thread! NO POLITICS.  I think I made the small point I wanted to make (felt compelled for some reasonSmiley).

AUSTIN was wonderful and is one of the great venues in F1!  It will only get better in the next 10+ years.

TEXAS overall is the friendliest place in the world.  First Class smiles and attitude all around!  What a great State!

    Very nice indeed! Thank you.

Re: 2012 US F1 Grand Prix in Austin

It was a great race....and the facility was outstanding. A very enthusiastic  and international crowd.....people from the UK, Venezuela, Spain and Italy were sitting around me.

In Saturday's Historic F1 race there was even a six-wheel Tyrrell, though it only lasted a lap.

Re: 2012 US F1 Grand Prix in Austin

There are some gorgeous pictures in this thread. One of the few races I would´ve loved to attend personally.

Sounds great. Pardon my ignorance, but what is a "squeeze"? I assumed your girlfriend is an Italian supermodel waiting in Montreal. Or did I get that wrong...?

    Smiley

Re: 2012 US F1 Grand Prix in Austin

In case people were curious, all of these shots were taken from either the turn 12 stands (my seats) or from general admission areas around the track with a 55 - 250 lens.

Sadly that did not work out.  Children are the most important aspect in these situations and given the distance and the impending move to the US things simply did not work out with the kids (her's).  Former swimsuit model, not super model.  lol.

thanks for following my life story so dilligently. Smiley Dating after 25 years of marriage can be a nightmare and difficult.  (I am learning to have more fun and not get too involved)

Here's a humorous photo sequence from the Ferrari Challenge:

These two cars collided in turn 12 as 56 tried to pass 32 on the inside at the apex but was just a little late.  They pulled off the track to inspect the damage.
