You are quite right! Let's hope the difference in price isn't only for the badge alone!
Well, Porsche isn't the most profitable car company for nothing. I think the badge is alot of it. I think the BMW interior (for instance) is actually higher quality and more expensive to produce. The genius of the Porsche is the layout, look and tuning (none of which is terribly expensive for the manufacturer).

I read an article by Chris Harris a while ago and he identified that thing Porsche possesses (more than the things you identified) that make their cars across the model range and across different eras that bit more special is the "weight".
Not in terms of kg but the weight of the clutch, the weight of the steering etc, ultimately how it feels to drive.
I must admit everytime I drive a Porsche and then going back to my BMW makes me realise how sterile the driving experience is compared to the Porsche.
Anyway, I'm sure there will be other opinions amongst fellow rennteamers and I hope the E92 will not disappoint!
Incidentally, I have read (forum post elsewhere) that the E92 M3 clutch is REALLY light!
