    Re: Audi Quattro Concept

    +1 I like it!

If it would have the 5-cylinder Turbo of the TTRS / RS3, that would be the "real Quattro S1"

    Re: Audi Quattro Concept

It does have the 5-cylinder of the TTRS, but tuned to 300kw!  It is also 200kg lighter than TTRS and sits on a shorten RS5 platform (torsen as opposed to haldex then).  0-100kmh in 3.9s.  I want one!  Please build it Audi!

    Re: Audi Quattro Concept

IF Audi decide to buid it production version will weight as much as TT RS. Price will be at least at RS5 level. Do you still want one?

I am known Audi fan here but, this concept looks like a car for 18 years old kid...

    Re: Audi Quattro Concept

    Style-wise it is a GT-R by Audi.

I like the styling, very UR Quattro like for me.  Weighing as much as the TT RS will be a bit dissapointing, but I would still consider it for sure.  Pricing at RS5 level doesn't bother me.

I agree. That was my exast 1rt thaught when I saw the pics. It looks like a GT R from far

    Re: Audi Quattro Concept

I like it a lot...no surprise here...I owned three Lancia Delta HF Integrale and even raced one professionally.

If Audi would put this car on the market for let's say under 100000 EUR, I could be tempted.

@Kreso: yes, I was between 19 and 21 when I drove my Lancias.

For those who don't know the Lancia Delta HF Integrale, here is a little reminder (photo).

Back in 1985, this little baby was faster than some 911. I won't forget how many 911 drivers got the shock of their lives when I passed them. My second car had water injection (intercoolers), power was somewhere close to 280 HP. Even with the standard engine (185-200 something HP), this baby did 0-100 kph in 6.8 seconds. 4WD included. 1985.

    Same feeling here.

I had 2 Integrales (a modified '89 and a '92). Still regret selling the last one...

I think the nay-sayers are a bit over-reacting... to me it is a fairly nice evolution of Audi design language (the A7 seems similar?) and if anything is cleaner and less fussy than some recent Audi designs, especially the R8.   I especially like the minimalist interior given Audi's tendency to over-button their recent interiors... would be nice if this simple interior style found its way into production cars.

    Re: Audi Quattro Concept

Hmm... R8 is IMHO the best Audi design ever.

This Quattro Concept(if Audi decide to produce it) will look in its production version much more civilised and interior will be like any other current Audi. Weight will go up at least 100kgs. Why? Just add S Tronic and up goes 40kgs...

Looks like the production version will cost upwards of the R8 as well.  Hmm, that is getting a bit expensive.  If it was RS5 money, I would buy one.

    Re: Audi Quattro Concept

if they are close to the projected 1300 kgs with the TTRS 5 cyl engine and 408 hp as published and prices are between TTRS and RS5 - I would order one too !

    Re: Audi Quattro Concept

Today I heard something about "slightly over 100000 EUR" (incl. 19% german VAT) for the new Quattro, this would put it aprox. 25000 EUR over the RS5 price tag. I also suppose that they can't keep the low weight, so it is going to be closer to 1500 kg.

For under 100000 EUR with the current weight figure, it would be an interesting offer.

    Great photo, thanks for sharing.

Apparently a lot of sports car freaks around Europe owned a Lancia Delta HF Integrale. Who with fuel in his/her blood could actually ignore such a great offer ?

I just wish these cars were more reliable, you wouldn't believe how many problems I had with them.

As far as I remember, my first HF Integrale was 22000 DM (Deutsche Mark), a VW Golf GTi with 112 HP only had the same price tag at that time. Ouch.

Let's wait and see...(and pray).  Smiley

If they want to price it slightly below the R8, it won't sell.

Perfect price range would be 80000-90000 EUR for such a car, everything over this kind of money is a bit too much for a non-spectacular body.

Let's see, maybe they end up making only few of them to sell them at higher value.

Some more information on the Q Concept.

IMO it looks good and maintains a design link to the iconic 80s car but at the same time it has elements from current cars like the A5  . The huge front opening that gives the concept a half finished look,I'm sure will be stylized in the final version.

100.000 EUR maximum, is the expected price according to the article.

    Re: Audi Quattro Concept

According to a friend who just returned from Paris and who claims he spoke with an Audi rep about the Quattro, the Audi Quattro will be a very limited edition car at a price tag around 205000 EUR. Ouch. Ouch. Ouch...

    Re: Audi Quattro Concept

Info that I got is coming directly from NSU and is little bit different... If approved by Audi Board new Quattro will be priced little bit above current RS5 and will be limited in production numbers(a relative thing since target number is above 1500 units).

Just... New Quattro is at least two years away from Audi Showrooms.

If that turn out to be true that would be an impresive priocetag because, due to its limited production and being a new model and not just a especial edition of an existing one (higher R&D costs), as well as all its lightweight materials treatment (carbon fiber, lightweight seats, aluminum panels, etc), I would expect it to carry a heavy pricetag, much more than a RS5 I would think Smiley

    Re: Audi Quattro Concept

    Audi to build reborn Quattro...

    (8 October 2010)

Audi is working on an engineering plan that will allow it to turn its spectacular Paris show-stopping Quattro Concept into a production vehicle.

A dedicated team of engineers at Audi’s headquarters in Ingolstadt is advancing plans that, if approved, will see the evocatively styled coupé assembled in limited numbers on a dedicated line at the company’s newly acquired sister firm, ItalDesign, near Milan.

Describing the new two-door as more than just a one-off show car, Stefan Reil, head of development at Audi’s Quattro Gmbh division, confirmed plans for a limited production run were fairly advanced. “We are rethinking standard processes to make it possible,” he said. “We know how to engineer it already.”

Although ItalDesign has no existing assembly operations, the Italian design house has a background in low-volume production, as it was responsible for the assembly of the BMW M1. It is also used regularly by Audi’s parent company, Volkswagen, to construct various concept cars, including the still-born Nardo supercar and Tarek off-roader.

Conceived to embody the rally-bred spirit and technological flair of Audi’s iconic Sport Quattro launched in 1984, the modern-day version is clothed in a uniquely styled aluminium and carbonfibre body. This sits on a modified steel floorpan and four-wheel drive underpinnings from the RS5.

The combination is claimed to provide it with an impressively low 1300kg kerb weight, roughly the same as that of the original Sport Quattro used to homologate Audi’s storming Group B rally cars. Outlining plans for the Quattro’s possible production, Reil said, “We need feedback to see if it is possible. Audi has no heritage in building 200-500 cars that are really exotic. But it won’t be over €100,000 [£86,000].”

Hinting about a technical tie-up with sister firm Lamborghini, whose expertise in carbonfibre is set to play a big role in the Quattro’s lightweight body, Reil told Autocar, “This car and Lamborghini are in the same exotic corner.”

While Audi remains tight-lipped on the Quattro’s longitudinally mounted, turbocharged 2.5-litre five-cylinder engine, Reil suggests it will be tuned beyond the level used in the TT RS. “A really good turbocharged petrol engine has around 140bhp [per litre]. We’re a little under that now. But with a larger turbocharger something around 350bhp is possible.”

The use of a five-pot engine harks back to the Sport Quattro that took on rivals from Peugeot and Lancia at the height of the Group B era. It featured a 2.1-litre turbo in-line five that developed 306bhp in road trim and up to 444bhp in competition guise.

In a move that hinted at a possible return to Pikes Peak, Audi also revealed a scale model of the Quattro Concept. It had a body styled on the Sport Quattro S1 E2, complete with a deep front spoiler, flared wheel arches, towering rear wing and Audi Sport livery.
