Conny997:
can, I agree with you entirely that all what we can currently see is the max. power information Porsche submitted for the Turbo S and yes that's only a single point.
Unfortunately I haven't see any graph of tourque or hp as a comparison between Turbo and Turbo S.
For me and my long lasting experience (over 30 years) with P-cars, a power increase of 30 hp means not so much. But yes, no facts - only feeling....
Sure, I have had similar experience to yours. My Cargraphic exhaust system is advertised to gain 25 hp over stock. When I first had it, I thought either my butt dyno needs re-calibration, or 25 hp doesn't mean anything, or someone claims 25 when he should not have.
OTOH, a stage 2 ECU tune gains around 10%, or 40-50 hp (my car's gain is consistent with this). This 40 however is an entirely different animal -- there is near elimination of lag and the spool up time vastly reduced. The car forward thrust becomes nearly out of control in certain situation, like curves.
But... my experience is more than just feeling, the clutch starts slipping, indicating a very "bad boy" is lurking beneath this 40 hp.
So there is 30 hp, and there is 30 hp; depends on the situation and who is claiming what. Specifically when it comes to ECU-tune or Turbo boost manipulation, I think 30 tends to be very real. Hopefully the TT S will be another home-run for Porsche.
BTW, 991's chassis change and engine being moved forwards, if true, are very exciting news to me. If I already have 997.1 Turbo, there is no way I would upgrade to 997.2.
991 would be the one!
