I was just wondering with traffic, must be difficult to get a clean lap. Or do they reserve the track for a hot lap?

There are a lot of private days for car makers with very little traffic on track.

You cannot mix on track test drivers with prototypes and "tourists" !

Anyone in the EU hear anything about the change to the 992 nomenclature instead of 991.2 as expected?

I thought the .1 and .2 nomenclature was something made up by car forums and magazines, but not Porsche themselves. I never remember seeing this nomenclature before the 997, i.e. did anyone ever refer to the 1999-2002 as 996.1 and the 2002-2004 as 996.2?

I would find it strange if Porsche decides to change the internal model name for a facelift, but it is also pretty irrelevant. No matter the internal number, the rear lid will stay "911" Smiley

I also believe that 991.1/991.2 in reference to MkI vs MkII is also not used by Porsche themselves, Porsche only uses the actual internal model name 997, 991, etc

And I find it very hard to believe that they would give a specific model such as the GTS (basically a Carrera variant)  its very own independant internal model code when other more distinct models such as the Turbo or GT models still always used the same internal 993, 996, 997, 991 etc model codes.

The numbers we (customers, car forums, etc.) use are correct but the 991.2 or MkII not but does it really matter?!

so, no 991.2 but directly to 992 as the change is too big . I wonder if them they will also come up with a new inside .

Launch already at the LA show ( november ) ! That sounds very early !

In Paris ( october )  we would then see  a GTS ( ? )  and the GT3 RS to close the production of the 991.

Unless they come up with an RS that is absolutely out of this world, I would be pi.. off, to get an '' old'' model when the new base is already on it's way .

Looks like a facelift to me. It is a 991 with a different engine. No bigger change than the 997 which also got a new engine type. I doubt the interior has changed, since the exterior has not.

It's the timing  I find difficult to accept, not so much the content which has been suggested to be the direction Porsche is headed with the 911. Another blog suggested that the GTS would be introduced at LA but w/ the 992 model number.  I'm sure somone here on Rennteam has solid information, but perhaps cannot share at this time.

So do they keep the strange looking DRL in the end?

Seems as if the DRL is the same unit as in the 991 only with a different apron. mail

And it looks as if the rear lights will be a bit curved, but I'm not sure if this is just some sort of optical illusion.

Is it me or are the rear headlights ridiculously wide extending far laterally towards the rear wheel?  and the fact that they have narrow longitidinal red/white colored stripes doesn't help either

I would be far more interested in the engine specs than the shape, color, interior, door handles, exhaust sound etc.  Just saying...  No wonder Porsche has lost its way with such concerns.

I do not think that Porsche comes up with a facelift in L.A. - the L.A. motorshow is and has been "Cayman country".

You as opposed to who?  Or you can tell engine specs from just the spy pictures? Cause that is what we are commenting... spy pictures. If so please iluminate us.
