Insurance for a 997? Any pointers?

Just running through www.confused.com and not many insurance companies are quoting, mainly due to the value of the vehicle.
If you don't mind me asking, where to you get your insurance guys and gals.

Re: Insurance for a 997? Any pointers?

i am 37 and had it insured under a house policy which was call portfollio designed for cars in excess of 25k. the porsche was Pounds1200 and 535d bm Pounds550 and discovery 3 tdv6 Pounds400 with my wifes mini one put on for Pounds50quid. not bad i think.what about red as mine was.it is stunning when polished up nice

Re: Insurance for a 997? Any pointers?

Thats a pretty good price. I'm getting around the Pounds1600 mark. Can anyone tell me what Alarm, Mobiliser is fitted as standard. Is it Thatcham (sp) 1/2 approved?

elephant.co.uk (admiral online) is very good.

last renewal for my 997C2S was just over Pounds1000 fully comp. (28yr, unmarried male, 6yr ncb, south west of england).

they also don't care whether you have a tracker or not.

Re: Insurance for a 997? Any pointers?

Im with admiral mate. 28 year old property developer with full ncb garraged 12000 miles per year no tracker. 68k value Pounds1200 premium Pounds250 excess

Thats quite good also. I've just got a quote from Elephant.co.uk and I was quoted Pounds2963!!!

I'm 37, have 3 points in September 2003, have 10 Yrs NCB, the car is garaged, Pounds15,000 miles a year...

    [edit]

    Admiral Pounds2750!!! Summuts wrong here?

Re: Insurance for a 997? Any pointers?

ResB ,i am 38 and have just renewed my c2s unsurance for the 2nd year with Porsche Insurance for Pounds1050 with only a Pounds250 excess and No tracker required
Get a quote from Norwich Union and Porsche will basically match it.To me this is a total no brainer i can insure with Porsche which means all repairs are done by offical Porsche
repairers and no tracker and small excess for less than the average quote.

Thats good to know. I have just tried to get an online quote from NU Direct but the max value of vehicle online is Pounds50k. Both myself and the wife are insured with NU Direct so I guess I have got to ring them. I like the idea of using Porsche to be honest so I'll give that a go also.

    Thanks all for your help.

    Regards,

    Rich

Re: Insurance for a 997? Any pointers?

    Just for information.

Here is a link to the Thatcham website that provides details of specific approved Alarm/Immobilisers...

It would appear that the standard equipment on the 997 is -

    Alarm with Immobiliser (CAT 1)
Imobiliser on it's own (CAT 2)

    Thatcham's Website...

I phoned around and am in the process of signing up with someone any day.

Direct line wanted about 2700. I am currently with Adrian FLux (thats for my heavily modified Skyline) they wanted over 2K for my C2S but said they would beat anyone elses price.

Porsche Insurance quoted Pounds1350. And as it stands thatss who I am going with. If I write the car off in the first year I get a brand new one with Porsche. That sounds good to me!

(Adrian flux say they will beat this! But why quote so high to start off with then!!!)

Overall the policy Porsche do seemed good. Also .. They do not need a tracker if the car is under 75K. Mine is about 200 quid under! Everyone else wanted a tracker fitted.

I feel 1350 is a good price. I am 35 with hundreds of years NCB and it is a second car. I pay more than that for a Skyline which is marginally faster yet under 1/3 the value!

    Cheers

    Thanks for the replies guyz.

Just a little tip for anyone having the same issues as me on Confused.com. A lot of the on-line sites will only quote for cars under Pounds50k "on-line". This doesn't mean they will not quote for a more expensive car. I spoke to NU Direct today and managed to get a quote for Pounds1170.00 which I'm pretty happy with and no Tracker required. In fact when I asked what the difference would be if I fitted one the difference in the Premium was Pounds60! I'm going to run this one through Porsche I think and see what they can do. Thanks for all the advice, I'm starting to feel at home here all of a sudden.
