    BMW 135i M Sport - ordered one!

I decided yesterday morning after talking to a friend that I really want a small, RWD, high powered fun machine. I had been eyeing the 135i on the 1 series forums and magazines for awhile, so I went down to my dealer and ordered one. Build slot in March, delivery in May. I ordered it in white, and I am going to paint the wheels the same anthracite colour as my Aston. Anyone else here ordered one? I know Grant is quite keen on this car. Can't wait!

Does BMW plan to make an M1?

Re: BMW 135i M Sport - ordered one!

congrats WAY. that will be some machine! not a big fan of the shape of the 1-series coupe tho. I like the hatch back shape better.

WAY, do u know if the SBank dealer has a M3 on display?? wanna hv a look. cos South Yarra doesnt hv one last time i checked.

Re: BMW 135i M Sport - ordered one!

Doubt it. But they are going to release the Tii from what I have read. If it is a hard core track tool, I will buy that when it comes.

Thanks Derder. Yeah I think they have a black one. I drove it a few weeks back.

Re: BMW 135i M Sport - ordered one!

Good one Way!! How much is it in Oz?

Re: BMW 135i M Sport - ordered one!

    Congratulations!!!

Re: BMW 135i M Sport - ordered one!

Great combo, quit a small car and an amazing engine. Have driven the 335i and the engine rocks.

What shape do you get - hatch back, coupe or Convertible?

Re: BMW 135i M Sport - ordered one!

I also wanted something small, RWD with a powerful engine so I am on the waiting list at my local dealer. Unfortunately, BMW still has not released the price in Canada. Congrats on the purchase Way!

Re: BMW 135i M Sport - ordered one!

Nice choice Way, you and I have too similar tases - were we seperated at birth?

Wht with the Astons, the golf (see other post) and that I looked at the 1 series coupe before ordering the gold (123d in my case) there's got to be some connection...

What impressed me was the ride quality - I'd had a loaner of a 118d Sport hatch a couple of years ago, and the run flats made the ride almost unbearable - they really seemed to have addressed that with the 1 coupe and latest genertion of tyres..

Price in Oz not confirmed yet, but BMW dealer bulletin said it will be "sub $80k". Not bad for the performance!

Haha like they say, great minds think alike! You will love the Golf GTI. They are great little cars. I looked into the R32 when it came out, but found that my GTI has much stronger mid range and the 200kg weight difference is really felt in the change in direction. Just do yourself a favour and get the ECU remapped. Worth every cent!

So you've actually ordered a 123d Coupe, Rich! Did you read the Autocar road test on it? If not I'll scan and post it here. Interestingly they reckon the coupe is a much better drive than the hatch due to a more rigid bodyshell, the coupe has a boot, not a hatchback.

Re: BMW 135i M Sport - ordered one!

congrats WAY, this may be my next car if I don't move to the city

Re: BMW 135i M Sport - ordered one!

Congrats. Its one fast city runner!

Re: BMW 135i M Sport - ordered one!

Thanks all. I am very excited about this car. More so than some others I have ordered in the past!

Hurst, why do you want to move? Potomac is a nice area! Love the houses there. I lived in Bathesda for a few months.

Re: BMW 135i M Sport - ordered one!

Congrats - just read that Alpina and Schnitzer have 360 HP conversions of the engine and without the limiter the 135i ran 300km/h. Eventhough it's 1560 kgs and t4 not much lighter than a 335i I love the car. In White with Black 19inch wheels the Schnitzer looked stunning....

Here it is in electronic form:

This is an absolute gem of an engine. It doesn't seem long ago that the raucous punch of a Volkswagen/Audi TDI motor was an extraordinary achievement, and yet this twin-turbo masterpiece manages to outpace any rivals and offer class-leading refinement.

Choose any barometer of performance and the 123d impresses. It springs from rest to 60mph in just 6.7 seconds, and can dust the fourth gear 40-60mph increment in a paltry 4.1 seconds. In the real world, this is a genuinely fast car.

Factor in the outstanding fuel economy (you should be able to beat 50mpg) along with a minimal environmental impact (just 138g/km of CO2), and it's easy to see this as the 1-series coupé engine of choice.

Congrats to both Wayne and Rich, the 1-series Coupe looks like a great drivers car

The 135i isn't quite the hooligan threat to the health and safety lobby that we might have secretly hoped for, but its diminutive size and shear pace mean it is a huge amount of fun. Especially if you're sitting next to a Cayman at the traffic lights.

I'm in a bad need for a personal transportation, because I'm without a car for quite a while ... many reasons for it.... and also because I get company car... even not good ones or ones to be mentioned here... but the 135 specially here in Europe it is very I mean very expensive... At least IMO; I mean for a car that it is suposed to be the lower model in a range of other models (I mean other BMW coupes like 3 and 6 series coupes) it is very expensive. Then it is the same with all other models in the 1 series coupe range being diesel or gasoline.... So I may wait for the posibility to buy a Boxster or Cayman even if they cost quite a lot and have less bph than the BMW.

oops - no, I ordered a Golf GTi in the end (menat golF not golD in my post)

The 123d was brill - but a bit more than I wanted to spend in the end (especially with the job uncertainty at the mo) plus access to the rear wasn't quite as good as I hoped - although the space once there was fine

A great car though - and so quiet - struggled to tell it was a diesel from inside.

Did you get the Golf with the DSG box - it's incredible, even more economical AND quicker than the standard 6 speeder.

Re: BMW 135i M Sport - ordered one!

Except in top speed... Since DSG is heavier...

Still more than worth it - top speed is increasingly academic, even more so in the UK where we have 70mph (112km/h) max speed limit and speed cameras.

Re: BMW 135i M Sport - ordered one!

Test drove a DSG but preferred the manual - DSG was very impressive though.

Well, according to VW gear ratios are the same but, top speed is 2km/h down. And interesting thing is that all DSG cars in Audi/VW line are slower(and around 30kg heavier) then their manual version.

Maybe the DSG has more internal friction? The only factors that affect top speed are horsepower at the wheels (internal losses and gearing matter) and aerodynamics and rolling resistance of the tires.

Re: BMW 135i M Sport - ordered one!

The latest issue of Grassroots Motorsports had an article on the 135i, where they did a number of laps on a medium speed race course, and they were very impressed with the car. They said it will a great track day car (with different tires)....
