    NAV Disks

    Just got word that my car is off of the ship and at the docks. Hoping for delivery this week. When I bought my wife's BMW they had to order navigation disks from Navtech for the car. As I understand it this is standard procedure for a BMW and is sent overnight. Does anyone know if the NAV disks are delivered with the car or if I will have to go through some procedure to get them after I get the car?

    I received mine in the mail within a few days.

    Welcome to Rennteam!

    Here in the UK my disc came with the car. The salesman installed it as part of the handover procedure to show how it is done.

    My dealer said the same thing for my new TSCab purchase (he said they don't "order" the nav disc until the car is "delivered"). I'm not sure why, but I was in no rush to use nav, so I didn't complain.

    Perhaps to ensure you get the latest version of the disc. The one supplied with my car is way out of date - now having a fight with the dealer to get a later version FOC.

    Once the dealer gets the VIN number for your car they can order the disk. I got my disk mailed to me a few weeks before the car arrived, so I was able to install it when I picked the car up. Some dealers don't order the disk until the car arrives. I don't know why some dealers won't go ahead and order the disk ahead of time.

    DEaler has told me that they always have 1 or 2 DVDs for the NAV system. While I understand that I want the latest maps (does anyone know the version?), does anyone know if there are different software versions of the DVDs? My car is a June build so it will most likely come with the latest PCM.

    I've been in my 2005 C2S for eight weeks now - and still no disk for the Nav. Does the disk get mailed to the dealer or to the owner's address?

    Mine was mailed directly to me. As soon as my dealer got the VIN for my car they ordered the disk. I was told that they cannont get them from the vendor until they supply the VIN number. I received mine a couple of weeks before the car arrived. I am not sure how a dealer would just have some on hand.

    An interesting tidbit:
    Factory installation of Nav discs was phased in as the standard installation
    method, as of mid-April Production. In 987 and 997 models
    These discs are not compatable with earlier PCM software versions which require NAVTEQ DVD's

    My disk was at the dealers 4 days after delivery... I probably used the NAV a month later going to god knows where...

    Nav was set-up already in the car when I picked it up on delivery.

    Phil "PS CA" gave me a tip to call them and ask them to get the disk once they had my VIN, I did that but when I called they said - "it's already covered".

    My dealer has said "it's already covered" now about seven times over the last eight weeks! (Luckily, I never get lost anyway - just ask my wife)
