    Are there RMS leak issues with the current Boxsters?

    I don't know much about Boxsters, so I'm hoping you can provide me with some real info. I'd like to buy a Boxster S sometime if they are not prone to this problem.

    Since the US release for the new Boxster was only about 6 weeks ago I'd say it's most likely too early to tell whether the RMS problem still exists. I haven't seen anything official from Porsche stating they have corrected the problem so....we'll just have to wait and see.
    I would hope that with the extensive reworking of the engine to increase the hp that they would also have taken the time to find the source of the RMS problem, but I'm new to Porsche so what do I know?!

    Although my baby is still newborn, I certainly hope it is housetrained and doesn't make little "mistakes" like that.

    An RMS failure on a 987 has already been reported on the UK Boxa.net board. Car was only 6 weeks old and had covered 1400 miles.

    What is meant by a RMS failure? A small leak on the ground or a complete loss of engine oil from it?

    RMS's are usually small leaks - you just notice a few drops of oil on the floor of your garage. So, typically, it's not something that has to be remidied immediately. I believe that you can get some contamination on the clutch plate if it gets worse, so eventually you have to get it fixed.
