Rennteam.com had 6000000 (six million!) site hits this year.

We have unbelievable traffic (more than 85 GB last month!) for a simple forum based website.
It seems that a lot of people are enjoying our site and we're very very proud of our Users for conducting such interesting discussions. Thanks to everybody for your support!
Special thanks go to our moderators Ron, GMAustin, Fanch, and zzboba.

    Congratulations!

    Great forum = many clicks

    Thanks RC.

Yes, I think the forum is doing well and has good traffic. This forum gets respect because of the quality of the information and discussion, IMO.

Re: Rennteam.com had 6000000 (six million!) site hits this year.

thanks from me as well, RC! you're the man
it's a privilege to be aboard this great forum!

Let's not forget yourself and CR that created this site .

I personally enjoy it immensely being on this forum and I wish I could say that about my job

Re: Rennteam.com had 6000000 (six million!) site hits this year.

Congrats to all, specially to RC and CR,that give us this great forum!

    Ciao guys
    Dario

Re: Rennteam.com had 6000000 (six million!) site hits this year.

    Great!

Plan on seeing traffic go through the roof this coming summer when the 997 is released officially!

Also, thanks for keeping the site simple - and ad free. It's so hard these days to find a nice forum without any advertisements, popups, etc..

Re: Rennteam.com had 6000000 (six million!) site hits this year.

Congrats everybody for this fantastic forum!!
    Thank you a lot!!

Re: Rennteam.com had 6000000 (six million!) site hits this year.

    Thanks guys, we're really flattered.
Of course I didn't want to forget CR Germany who's actually paying most of the bills for Rennteam.com.

Because we want to keep Rennteam.com free of stupid ad pop-ups and annoying flashing banners, we're trying to keep this site ad-free. Unfortunately we have to delete most of the older video files from our server, traffic cost is "killing" us.
The problem is direct linking. Some websites make direct links to our video (and picture) files and we still didn't find an effective solution to prevent that from happening. If somebody has an idea, please come up with it.

Maybe we should ask those for money who profit most from Rennteam.com: Porsche, Ferrari and AMG.
I bet no User would mind if they advertise their products on Rennteam.com. Wishful thinking I guess.

Re: Rennteam.com had 6000000 (six million!) site hits this year.

RC, there are many topics on preventing deep-linking (direct image linking from another site). If you email me I'll send you some info I have...

PS - keep up the great work!

Re: Rennteam.com had 6000000 (six million!) site hits this year.

And thank you to you and CR man!
And mostly, thank you to all our Members! And viewers!
    Keep it up!
    Fanch.

Re: Rennteam.com had 6000000 (six million!) site hits this year.

    RC,

First off...CONGRATULATIONS! That is incredible news!

To me...Rennteam.com is by far the best car enthusiast forum on the web, PERIOD!

The informaion sources, discussion maturity, and numerous different views all make for great reading and debating. Plus, the site is so easy to use that it makes posting almost natural. The participation level of the founders and moderators is greatly appreciated. It is great when you have a question (private or public) and it is answered very quickly (within the next day or so). Lastly, as everyone else has mentioned, the lack of pop-ups and annoying posts from "sponsors" is greatly appreciated. It speeds up the site and makes navigating a pleasure.

As far as having a major car manufacturer sponsor the site such as Porshe (which from the look of the site picture "decorations", it already is, right?), MB, BMW, etc. I would not mind at all. In fact, I would encourage it. Having companies such as that add some cash to relieve the IT needs of you guys would be great. It would allow you to keep the material we post (pictures, video, other associated files) for longer periods. Plus, having them "monitor" the forum discussions will make sure the customer is heard in their future product planning. Which then gives us more stuff to debate about!

Anyway, great work RC, CF Germany, and Ron (and the others I know I missed but can't remember their names). Keep it up and make sure Rennteam.com continues to prosper!

Re: Rennteam.com had 6000000 (six million!) site hits this year.

As far as I know, the best discussion forum concerning sports cars.
To you all, keep on with your fantastic work!

    All the best,
    Stefan

Re: Rennteam.com had 6000000 (six million!) site hits this year.

Congratulations, guys, you surely have made rennteam something unique

As for the traffic problem, it's not too difficult to block downloads for all sites other than rennteam.com
It would be a good ideea, as i think that most of the traffic comes from directly linked files. I know i'm myself guilty for a couple posted on flat-6

Re: Rennteam.com had 6000000 (six million!) site hits this year.

Congrats guys!!! I really enjoy this forum!!! Very good to find so many people who love Porsches and know that much about them.

I see rennteam is using the Apache webserver on FreeBSD (great choice). The simple solution to this is to have your administrator setup and configure "mod_rewrite" on the server. This can and will prevent direct linking, it's pretty simple and straight-foward.

    Best,
    Mike

I'll talk to our Admin and see what he says. Thanks.
