    My tiptronic 997S - 0-60 mph times!!

These are some really good times I thought I would post it!
Im sorry about the pic I can't seem to get it clear??
    0-60 in 4.388
    0-80 in 6.276

Re: My tiptronic 997S - 0-60 mph times!!

Awesome numbers, did you use Sport Chrono on these runs?

Re: My tiptronic 997S - 0-60 mph times!!

    Wow they are awesome!!!

Re: My tiptronic 997S - 0-60 mph times!!

looks great! Shoulda done a 1/4 mile run though

Re: My tiptronic 997S - 0-60 mph times!!

I will do a 1/4 mile time soon...I haven't tested my car after the performance upgrades and the aero kit with the vented wing. I feel the wing with the vent helps a lot... like a ram air effect...cause I get a lot of torque and wheelspin in 1st gear at 4000 RPM.

Re: My tiptronic 997S - 0-60 mph times!!

great! What method did you use to collect this data? Was this on a dyno or some sort of software on a laptop?

The gTech-pro, which allows you to down load the data to a laptop

Re: My tiptronic 997S - 0-60 mph times!!

looks pretty cool to me! How does it know how fast you are going? How does it know your HP?

Re: My tiptronic 997S - 0-60 mph times!!

Randy: did you ever test before installing Speedart Performance kit-1? What was the result?

Re: My tiptronic 997S - 0-60 mph times!!

What really got my attention about these times was the Feb edition of ROAD&TRACK which had the comparison between the M5 Vs M6 the times were as follows-
    0-60 mph
    M5 M6 My 997S
    4.1 4.1 4.3

    0-80 mph

    M5 M6 My 997S
    6.5 6.4 6.2

My car is faster to 80!!!

Best timing when I was bone stock was 0-60 mph in 4.89 sec...by the way these timings are with sport chrono ON...PSM turned OFF...and brake boosting.

Re: My tiptronic 997S - 0-60 mph times!!

I would re-check those figs ...they seem very optimistic ....was the machine calibrated correctly ......in the graphs it says that the 997 weighs 3500lbs......it actually weighs 1460kgs which is 3212lbs

The new M6 is has been proven to leave the 996 turbo in it's wake and the 997S whether in manual or tip form is slower than the Turbo....

If they are accurate then you have yourself a very unique tip 997S.

Re: My tiptronic 997S - 0-60 mph times!!

I think that is a rolling start? The clock (bold vertical line) started when you were already moving. Or am I misreading the graph?

According to the graph, it should be 5.3 seconds from 0-60?

You get ram-air effect in first gear?!

I agree. The actual time from a stopped start is 5.388s.

I think that that extra second is the effect of the torque converter. After that the tip is fine as the torque converter does not play a role in intermediate shifting. In practice, once the car is rolling, the tip may be faster than even the fastest driver operating a 6-speed manual, or at least the average driver.

Re: My tiptronic 997S - 0-60 mph times!!

Guys this was from a standing start...maybe the wheel spin may have caused this.......the weight is with me in the car and with a 3/4 tank of gas. I know the timing is damn good and the G-Tech is pretty accurate with the new G-sensor/ by the way the weight matters only for hp readings...It is calibrated perfectly.

I would like to see the article of the M6 against the 996 turbo...timing 0-60 0-80 0-100. I posted what was in the Road & Track.

If i am not mistaken it looks like there is a -1 -.5 0.0 before it starts??

WOW.. your explination makes a lot of sense... . I thought having 386 HP would give me a better time than that of a stock 997S tip??

It is not a magazine article.......... below there is a video of a 996 Turbo and the M6 ...the Turbo gets left behind quite easily.

I gotta agree (hesitantly) with this. My 333hp M3 with SMG (no torque converter, duh) seems as fast or faster than my 997S. Dang! I would be great to see these two compared.

I'd have ordered a Tip but the allure of a "real" gearbox stopped me. When Porsche offers DSG, I'm going for it.

Re: My tiptronic 997S - 0-60 mph times!!

Reading the graph when timing scale says 0.0 speed is aprox. 2 mph.

Sorry but 0-60 is from "0" including the time it takes the torque converter to move the car.

One more thing when shifting gears there is a torque difference because there is a rev jump downwards, so torque converter must work during changes also. Torque converter holds the revs higher and "slips" for a little longer than a manual change

Re: My tiptronic 997S - 0-60 mph times!!

    HOW DOES THIS TAKES INPUT
HOW DOES IT MEASURE SPEED AND RESULTS
    SENSORS?/

and what do you RANDY mean that these times were with Brake Boosting?
