I love my 997 and have had no problems!

Lets post some positive comments since all we seem to get are the people who expect a machine to never have anything go wrong.

I loved my 2000 996 and never had one problem with it...It was fun to drive and faster than the 993.

I love my 997 and it is way better than my 996. No problems at 2000 miles and love every minute I drive it!

    Anyone else love the P-car?

Re: I love my 997 and have had no problems!

1.5k miles in since Jan and I'm loving it! No problems yet.

Re: I love my 997 and have had no problems!

Great car. Sorry I can't bltch about it more

Re: I love my 997 and have had no problems!

No Problems at all (3 weeks - 800 Miles). Is it normal to keep washing it or should I go and see a doctor.

PS Seal Grey is a tough colour to keep clean!

Re: I love my 997 and have had no problems!

I have to agree, 1 month 1025 miles. No oil usage, no leaks, no problems, just a lot of fun to drive!!!!!

Re: I love my 997 and have had no problems!

rss996 you got the base or S ?

If you got the base could you tell me your impressions compared to the 996 you had?

And which 996 you had? (300 HP or 320 HP)?

Well this is easily the best car I've ever owned - everything is perfect and I feel I am driving an extremely well-made, high end automobile with the unmistakeable German feel of precision and engineering.

I love the class and understatement of its minimalism that exudes elegance - even flair, yet tastefully.

No problem here at all and enjoying evry km

Re: I love my 997 and have had no problems!

2000 miles and perfect performance thus far. By far the most incredible automobile I have ever owned...including the E39 M5 and a Cayenne Turbo.

Re: I love my 997 and have had no problems!

Dilinger,I have the base and had a 2000 996....300 HP...

My 996 was lowered with H&R springs and was a great car with no leaks or oil issues. I autocrossed it for 2 years and took 3rd in my class amongst a ton of cars. I drove it hard and at the limits( our autocross here you can hit 80mph) and it was a good car.

The base 997 seems to be much more solid, no creeks and rattles, not as light feeling and much more planted to the ground over bumps at speed. I have 19's on 997 and took 19's off 996 and went to Carrera 5 spokes. 996 was much better at the autocross with the 18's.

No doubt in my mind the 997 is a ton improved over the 996 and especially if you throw in the fact that I drive it 5 days a week on average. Much better combo of comfort and performance.

997 has much more low end kick especially with the sport chrono on. It really is a must option and is great in the switchbacks going up the mountains, so much more response at slower speeds and jumping on the throttle into the turn.

My 997 is much lighter than the 997S with all the extras so I figure I can keep up with one no problem except maybe on a big track!

I could have an S but opted to pay 72k for a car that is just as great, and a bit slower..

I agree with what you said except the weight argument.
The 997S is only 25kg heavier, thats it. But further more, the 997S comes stock with more extras than the 997, like Bi-xenons or 19" wheels (which both add weight compared to halogens and 18" wheels) so when you add these to a base 997 for example (as most base 997 are optioned with the 19" wheels and bi-xenons, as you have), the difference in reality is not even 25Kg. Add just these two options to a base 997 and you are looking at less than a 1% difference in actual kerb weight, hardly significant IMO.
That said, I agree nevertheles that a base 997 (with PASM at least) can keep up with a 997S in a small tight track when both driven by non-profesional drivers.

Well, I'm sorry, but I've got a serious bitch..... Ever since I took delivery of this blasted machine, the weather in Florida has absolutely stunk. It's been raining almost every damn day. And another thing, they've decided to tear up the road right through the middle of downtown Ocala, so now whenever I have to run into town on errands, I have to dart through the historic district to avoid the construction and congestion. If it weren't for the damned new Porsche, I wouldn't be stressing over these issues! And the bugs!!! At night, when I drive fast, bugs splatter on the nose, and then I've got to wipe the damned things off, while being careful not to scratch or harm my paint.... If I had an ounce of sense, I would tell my Porsche dealer to shove this car where the sun don't shine, and buy a reliable and fuel-efficient minivan with a bug-screen, and mudflaps....

I have a solution.....take it for a fast drive in the rain... What surprises me with the 997 is the useable performance in the wet!

Re: I love my 997 and have had no problems!

    6200+ miles....Flawless....Absolutely flawless....

Give me your car. You don't desire her. GOSH!

Re: I love my 997 and have had no problems!

Hey, isn't that a '67 GTO convertible in the background??

Re: I love my 997 and have had no problems!

    Probably.

Re: I love my 997 and have had no problems!

O.K. I only have 250 miles on my car with absolutely NO problems (I will re-post after my break-in period). It is my second P-car (previous was a 964), and while I have a million words to describe the 218 miles I have experienced, if I had to narrow it down to one it would be WOW (given the benefit of utilizing a hyphenated word it would be "F***-ME").

P.S. Torpedo, let me know what the doctor says, think I might be suffering from the same disorder.

    WOW

Re: I love my 997 and have had no problems!

9000 km, one of the first customer cars worldwide, only a new clutch (due to a strange whistling noise which appeared very seldom but I insisted on getting a new clutch) and a VERY seldom not popping in first gear which might be related to the clutch thing.
The car has been very reliable, rock solid and incredible fun (bear in mind that I owned a 543 HP 996 Turbo with H&R coilover kit before the 997 Carrera S). Only disappointments: fuel consumption and tire wear but I guess both are closely related to my driving style.

Re: I love my 997 and have had no problems!

1,400 miles, 6 weeks, no problems whatsoever. This is unusual for me since I buy new cars fairly often, and thought it was normal to return to the service dept. after a week or so so they could fix the bugs (always BMW & Mercedes). This is my first experience with Porsche, and I'm thrilled so far.
