Cayenne Turbo - Autobahn Monster
I know how much you enjoy such pics, so I posted one.
My Cayenne Turbo actually does up to 278 kph on the speedo but it takes some time. Up to 260 kph, it goes pretty fast and from 260 to 270 kph, it usually takes 25-30 seconds or so.
Aerodynamics aren't the best and fuel consumption was up to 37 litres/100 km.
What can I say, the Cayenne Turbo is absolutely perfect at high speed. I drove on the Autobahn this weekend, with family (wife, two kids) and luggage.
Our travelling speed was usually around 230-240 kph because traffic didn't permit more but actually we had pretty low traffic and sometimes I was able to go over 270 kph for a minute or two.
You say this is crazy with the family in the car? I can assure you that there was no risk involved, the Cayenne Turbo feels rock solid at any possible speed, even in narrow Autobahn curves. And the most interesting part: the brakes are awsome, braking from 260 down to 140-150 kph is unbelievable, no fading and no soft brake feel at all. Even my wife said that this car is unbelievable and she even loves the low wind/engine noise at top speed. We were still able to talk, incredible.
The massive front with the large air inlets assures that when other drivers see you in the rear mirror, they go to the right and let you pass. I encountered a BMW 328i Cab and a new Audi A8 who didn't want to let me pass for about a few km, travelling at a speed of around 210-220 kph. They probably thought they're fast and that I can't pass them.
But usually I had no problem because I also drive with the lights on and other drivers can see me in their rear mirror from far away.
The Cayenne Turbo is the perfect family fun car, it provides a lot of space, it is fast and it is pretty silent at high speeds.
The sport exhaust I have installed got a little bit louder but at speeds over 160 kph, you don't hear it anymore and the wind noise is louder.
I guess the PASM system has a great deal to do with the high speed stability, it is just unbelievable.
What is also interesting: when the engine and the sport exhaust system are hot, that typical V8 muscle car sound appears and it can be heard especially when driving through the city when you have houses on the right and left which reflect the sound. People are turning heads and the pop-off sound of the turbo chargers add to the whole thing a very nice and sexy tone.
Of course the Cayenne Turbo is no Porsche sportscar and I wish Porsche would have added some more "Porsche soul" to it. But it is an impressive piece of machinery and I don't want to miss it anymore.
Sorry for the bad picture quality but my wife took it and she isn't good in holding a camera steady.
