Personally, I tend to like the new M3 (we actually ordered one for my wife).
+ Great suspension: fairly neutral setup, reliable, yet ramarkably comfortable
+ The M-Drive button is a great option: easy switching from comfortable to sporty setup (including suspension, gear-box, throttle response)
+ Precise steering, great feed-back
+ Nice sound (particularly at higher revs)
+ Quite roomy (we will be getting the sedan version)
+ DKG is quite comfortable and very fast on manual down-shifts
+ good brakes (based on my experience to date - still need to test the brakes a bit harder...)
- Manual up-shifts with DKG are too slow
- Poor throttle/engine response at low revs (inner city driving, in particular); this problem can be observed with manual and DKG gear-box
0 Reasonable engine power (fast enough, but not out of this world )
In summary: a great car for a fair price

Congrats on the purchase!
From your post I assume you ordered it with DKG.

There's also a launch-control function, accessible only when the transmission is in track mode. You push and hold the shift lever forward until a checkered-flag motif appears on the dash. Take your foot off the brake and flat-foot the gas while holding the shifter forward, and the revs will rise to a fixed point (and those race-savvy BMW engineers allow you to choose a number between 4600 and 6100 rpm, using the cruise-control lever, to take into account the available traction).

First, congrats
Second, this should be of interest to your wife, if you didn't know it already, from a Motor trend test of the M3 DCT:

I wonder if you can do that with the new Porsche PDK, no wait let me guess, it was too expensive
