Discolouring of the side sticker on wide body...

Hi,

After just a couple of weeks and a few times of washing the car, I notice that the side stickers in front of the rear wheelarches are getting yellowish in colour..... My car is white and it shows quite clearly this soon....

Did anyone think of a fix for this ? I was thinking of having made a black one instead, solving the problem and also getting a 80`s feel to the car. Anyone seen this on a car ?

I've seen this before, and its especially apparent on white cars.

I would look into getting it taken off and applying Venture Shield's clear bra material instead.

Has anyone taken the film off ? How easy was it to remove. My car is white, It looks terrible and I would love to remove it. I dont think any other colors show the yellowing like a white car.

IMO, it is needed. Mine has tons of debris thrown up at it... I guess its from the front wheels.

Yes. The aero flow of the car tends to stream debris at, up, and over the flare wheel arch. Without it, you're leaving the area succeptable to stone chips, dents, and dings from flung debris.

Are there perhaps any computer wizards in here who could photoshop a black protector onto a white car ? In my head it looks cool à la 1980`s 930 turbo.....

My rough approximation of the end result. It took me a little while to warm up to it, but I think it would grow on me bearing in mind the only reason why it was black back then was b/c there was no translucent protector material.

Kind of funny and scary to think how far we've coming along w/respect to aesthetics in the last 15 years or so.

HEY !! I think it looks faboulus, I`m going to order a kit from the advertizing company just to test. Maybe in a somewhat rough surface, like the 930 turbo had.

It sure looks a lot better than the yellowish tone that I have now. Looks kind of "Techart" but I will probably pay app. 50 $

Hello out there!

The purpose is not cosmetic. My car has not been delivered by my OPC with it as I have discovered later. As a matter of fact I did call them some time ago to ask why it wasnt on and they told me that when they washed the car before delivery it had some little bubbles looking not nice so they removed it....

The problem is that on 997 compared to the 996 the arches are wider and as a result the microstones tend to destroy the paint were this stickers are especially if you go through bad roads. Now I have discovered many little stonechips but if yours is still in a good condition then go and put a clearbra or other good quality film. I do not think that Porsche's film is of a good quality unless if you replace it for free under guarantee....

Problem solved

Looked a lot at the photoshop image of the GT3 and it looked good, but there is also a small strip of protection "material" alongside the cars bottom end... that also had the same yellow miscolouring as the protectionpad. After looking at some pictures of my old white 930 Turbo, i noticed the black rubberstripe that runs along the bottom end of the car, which the black protection pad is coming out from... And we decided to cover the yellow strip in black also...

Wow.....that actually looks really good! I'm sorely tempted in doing the same to mine. Like Joost said, PLEASE post bigger pictures with better lighting perhaps too.

The longer I look at my old cars, the more I am uncertain about the forward curve of the sharkfin and the somewhat "thin" stripe.... any thaughts on this ?

I would probably also cut the line off and just have the "fin"
