    A few ideas for Mr Andreas Preuninger to consider for the MY08 GT3...

    GT3 MY08 options:
    * PDK dual-clutch gearbox

    GT3 Club Sport options:
    * PASM delete option
    * PASM non-active mode, with 3 fixed settings
    * Sunroof delete option (for the US market)
    * Sport mode as default setting
    * Race-spec brake pads
    * Shorter gear ratios
    * Bucket seats in leather/alcantara
    * Single-mass flywheel
    * Full integrated roll-cage

    GT3 Comfort options:
    * Rear seat option
    * 4-wheel drive option (997 GT4)
    * Wide-body with red rear reflector strip
    * Button to increase front ground clearance (below 20mph)
    * Road-spec front spoiler lip
    * Additional TC "monsoon setting"
    * Michelin Pilot Sport road tyres
    * Minor switchgear quality upgrade
    * Full leather/alcantara steering wheel (no Volcano Grey)
    * iPod integrated stereo
    * Alcantara dashboard

    ...any comments or other suggestions for the MY08 GT3?

    Looks great to me. How about a powerkit option too (3.8L to 4.0L range and 450hp)?

    hey Grant... a GT3 powerkit option would be a great idea!

    Given the power increase expected for the 997, maybe Porsche could consider a 3.8 litre version of the GT1 block for the MY08 GT3... at the same 115bhp/litre for the current engine that would provide 438bhp for a 3.8l GT3!

    ...of course an RSR 3.8l race-motor would be cool with 485bhp and a 9000rpm red-line, but no doubt the servicing and re-build costs would make that a bit ambitious for a road car!

    hi Sergini... clearly a 4wd option for the GT3 would not be aimed at you and other track-driving experts!

    But it could be an interesting option for those who would use a GT3 primarily as a road car and may like to drive it in all weather conditions...

    You may have seen that the GT3 set a new lap record for Autocar on their dry circuit test, beating the LP640 by two seconds!

    By contrast, the Autocar lap time on the wet circuit test was less impressive and the GT3 struggled to put the power down: "The GT3 is sensational for entirely different reasons on the wet circuit. To be fair, the tread was slightly worn on the Cup tyres, but even so it struggled to put and power down, proving hopelessly slow on the main straight. What it did allow was fabulous drifts through most of the corners, although this required serious throttle and steering control."

    That also seemed to be consistent with the video of Chris Harris driving the GT3 at Bedford on a very wet day...

    So perhaps the question is whether a 4wd option for a GT3 (comfort spec) could provide class leading all-weather capability to stay ahead of the Gallardo, R8, etc in the rain... maybe a more relevant question for those in the UK!

    Anybody know the price of the GT3 Michelin Pilot sport cup tyres? I guess the GT3 will need new sets fairly regular like every 4,000 miles or even earlier??

    Also, Can any one help me on the following in connection with the GT3 997?

    1. What is the ground clearance of the GT3 997. I am little worried about the "sleeping policeman" in London and also driving up a small ramp before getting to my drive. I have not experienced any problems with 997s

    2. What are the main differences between suspension of
    the 997s against the 997 GT3.

    3. Is the Michelin pilot sport cup tyre the standard tyre. I understand that two tyres are available. What is the other tyre and how do they differ?

    GT3 MY08 options:

    * GT3 competition mesh grills to protect front radiators

    The GT3 Cup has mesh grills in the left, centre and right air intakes of the front bumper to protect the radiators... so why not offer them as an option for the GT3 and RS?

    GT3 tyres:

    The Michelin Pilot Sport Cup (N0/Porsche) fronts are (235/35/R19) are Pounds253.80 each (fitted from www.blackcircles.com) and expect the rear tyres will be Pounds300+ per corner. The general feedback is that the MPSC tyres are fantastic on dry or damp roads, but can be a bit tricky in standing water!

    The other standard GT3 tyre is the Pirelli Corsa, which supposedly have a bit more grip in very wet conditions...

    GT3 ground clearance:

    The GT3's official "minimum ground clearance" is 93mm, which seems to be ok for an average UK speed bump taken at an appropriate speed, but can be an issue for sharp inclines or driveways. Driving at an angle can mitigate the issue to an extent, but expect the GT3 front spoiler lip is expected to experience wear and hence is designed to be replaceable...

    Wouldn't it be great for the GT3 to have a button to increase the front ground clearance at low speeds, like the Enzo...

    GT3 suspension:

    Front: MacPherson struts, coil springs, anti-roll bar
    Rear: Multi-link, coil springs, anti-roll bar
    PASM settings: Normal or Sport mode

    The GT3 has adjustable spring platforms front and rear allowing various ride heights, two basic camber settings for either road tyres or competition slicks with fine adjustment from the track control arms, and five anti-roll bar settings up front and three at the rear...
