997 gt3 :Delay on Europe delivery

My Dealer told me that the FIRST 997 Gt3 will be on sale on October-November 2006 due problems in Porsche Ag .

The 997 gt3 presentation will be in the first days on september . (late August)

so ,no cars in July and September because ALL cars will be my 2007 (first production september ,first delivery October).

and what happens in Germany ,UK ?

Ooops. That sounds scary. I was promised August delivery (Sweden). I wonder if that's in jeopardy also...

Re: 997 gt3 :Delay on Europe delivery

I was promised June delivery. Guess that's out of the window now. The dealer mumbled something about a delay but nothing like this.

Re: 997 gt3 :Delay on Europe delivery

guys ,,,in Italy the october delay is OFFICIAL !
please call Your dealers ,so we can compare !

Re: 997 gt3 :Delay on Europe delivery

    thanks !! lol
but the "cup" has less hp than the road version !

this will be my cup ....

    bady : rigattiere !

Re: 997 gt3 :Delay on Europe delivery

They're backlogged with hundreds of orders!

    Factory: 13 Jun 06

Re: 997 gt3 :Delay on Europe delivery

And to make matters worse, NO GT3RS for the States.
At least not within a year.

Re: 997 gt3 :Delay on Europe delivery

Oh NO !!! I will check with my UK dealer today and see if he knows more - is this linked to the Porsche Strike which was resolved recently ?

Re: 997 gt3 :Delay on Europe delivery

    nooooooo

Re: 997 gt3 :Delay on Europe delivery

Spoke to my UK OPC dealer today and says UK Production is still scheduled for Aug build for Aug/Sept delivery. So fingers crossed !

Re: 997 gt3 :Delay on Europe delivery

They are building GT3's in small volumes at the moment. I was at the factory last Wednesday and two white GT3's were going through assembly while I was there.

Re: 997 gt3 :Delay on Europe delivery

My dealer told me that there are 12 GT3s (MY06) on delivery within July (don't know if only Italy or Europe).
In my order the date is september (MY07).

I hope this news is refered to those people who order the GT3 now...
i ordered it at the end of march!

Re: 997 gt3 :Delay on Europe delivery

as for Germany there are delay as well. However, according to my dealer, they will catch up by middle of June. He is still confident to get my car in June

Re: 997 gt3 :Delay on Europe delivery

Actually, the factory is cranking out '911' automobiles like the end of the world was next month. My simple 997S Cab order was slipped about a month and then brought forward significantly.

With the increased demand for the 997 bodies it is reassuring to see that the factory is ramping up quickly to deal with it.

Re: 997 gt3 :Delay on Europe delivery

My dealer confirmed. No delays. Still on for August with a chance of July!

Re: 997 gt3 :Delay on Europe delivery

at the moment they are building about 150 911's a day - two seven hour shifts, each of 75 cars. Total 750 cars a week.

Re: 997 gt3 :Delay on Europe delivery

Have to wait until Monday when the dealer gets the reports from Porsche. Last one was showing my car in production so fingers crossed.

Re: 997 gt3 :Delay on Europe delivery

Just was informed by my dealer that deliveries on all GT3 are delayed 4-8 weeks as there are some difficulties in sourcing certain parts. this means that my June delievery looks more like August now
based on his info no cars are being build at present...

Re: 997 gt3 :Delay on Europe delivery

good example of just in time system going wrong ! Hope no impact deliveries scheduled later

Re: 997 gt3 :Delay on Europe delivery

Dealer told me that my car will not be affected by the delay since it's the launch car.

Re: 997 gt3 :Delay on Europe delivery

Any updates on RHD production and earliest expected delivery dates of first cars into UK ? TIA

Are you saying it only takes eleven hours to build a 911? I must be misunderstanding you.

How do you conclude from the given numbers the time to built a car? Do you know the depth of the assembly line?

If I remember correctly, a Porsche car in Zuffenhausen is about 2 days in the assembly line. However, Porsche has one of the lowest production depth in car industry. It is about 20% only. That is, 80% of the car built is outsourced and complete elements are delivered by suppliers.

That's correct - if I recall correctly, Porsche needs close to 30 hrs to build the car (for comparison: VW needs some 50 hrs to build a VW Passat due to higher production depth + maybe less productivity).

SL Boy's numbers should be quite accurate: when I visited the factory at the end of March, the target tact time was appr. 5 minutes whereas the actually achieved tact time was 4:40 min. (i.e. completed cars came off the assembly belt every 4:40 minutes) - I had the impression that there was not much free capacity left (unless they would invent a third shift).

Re: 997 gt3 :Delay on Europe delivery

    delays over here too...
