    White Turbo with painted wheels

Still on the never ending category of picking a colour; my current first choice is the example white Turbo on the exclusive site.

    http://www.porsche.com/uk/accessoriesand...o-carrarawhite/

My question though for you guys is; Are the painted wheels too bling or a must have?

Re: White Turbo with painted wheels

another real-life pic of the wheels:

Re: White Turbo with painted wheels

IMO, leave the wheels stock and don't paint the front intake slats. I like a little bit of contrast.

I agreed with that view when I first saw these pics, but those painted front slats have really grown on me, and I think they look amazing now. White would be the only colour I would do that with though.

Re: White Turbo with painted wheels

Too much, IMHO. Looks like there's no contrast at all. But everyone has their own preferences. If you like it then go for it, asking for our opinions is like trying to get us to make your choices for you.

Re: White Turbo with painted wheels

    i hate white painted wheels..black ok!,but white

Actually, I cast the first vote - for too bling.

Just wanted to see if anyone could change my mind...

Re: White Turbo with painted wheels

    Noop

Re: White Turbo with painted wheels

IMHO in case of whith bodz colour, the white shaded wheels looks good. Alternative would be all black wheels to the white body.

Actually, it makes a lot of sense to ask others opinions on colours/options/etc.

Ultimately it's the market that determines resale values.

Yes it ends with a personal choice, but knowing if you are the only person on the planet that likes something will let you know if you are in for a big hit come resale.

Re: White Turbo with painted wheels

I'll go against the flow here and say that I actually like them but they'll be hard to keep clean. I like the painted slats and saw a new turbo at my local dealer yesterday in polar silver with painted slats.

Re: White Turbo with painted wheels

If you get those wheels painted in white and have the red steelie brakes they will always look dirty unless you wash your wheels EVERY time you drive it. I can't imagine the upkeep on those rims. Whats nice about the stockers is the inserts are painted medium gray and the color hides brake dust well. Of course if you get the PCCB's there shouldn't be an issue?

Re: White Turbo with painted wheels

A bit too much I think, the especially with the front grilles painted.

In my opinion, gunmetal/black wheels or even the stockers are better in this case

Re: White Turbo with painted wheels

Maybe you like this look? HRE 893R's with painted white centers...

Re: White Turbo with painted wheels

You better get such wheels with a car equpped with PCCBs though so you don't become a slave to your wheels!

Re: White Turbo with painted wheels

IMO, it's just another example of the saying "Just because Porsche offers it as an option doesn't mean it looks good."

Too much paint on the wheels sometimes reminds me of plastic wheels on kid's bikes or garden carts.

OTOH, if my buddy got them and was happy I'd be less judgemental..., nah..., I'd just keep it to myself that I think _he_ made a mistake. She? A different story.

Re: White Turbo with painted wheels

Ya the brake dust is certainly a pain in the butt. I had a detailer who only works on exotics put something on the wheels that the dust doesnt 'bake on' it just wipes off, also have a power washer to help. I'll probly be looking for a set of used ceramics soon. Maybe one of you track guys (GT3's) that do a brake upgrade.

As for the white, being a gal I didnt want the car to look to 'masculine' with black centers, thus the white.

Re: White Turbo with painted wheels

I did order my turbo just like this. Its like you've posted the photo of my future car I think it looks greaatt with white wheels!

Re: White Turbo with painted wheels

Well this used to be my car, and now that I no longer own it I can tell you that it is too much. Even if you like the look, the paint starts showing wear and tear right away.. like chipping, etc. I would only get if you love the look AND you put CCB's... I have another 997tt on the way without all the white.

Re: White Turbo with painted wheels

    ferrarifuisz,
did you take a big hit for the trade-in?

If you are getting another white, why not just replace the intake slats and wheels to stock? then it would look just fine.

Re: White Turbo with painted wheels

no i didn't take any hit, I sold it privately for exactly what I had paid.

Re: White Turbo with painted wheels

must have! I love it! Have seen them in real in Zuffenhausen - looks awesome elegant not a bit of bling! If they are bling, the whole car is bling!

Re: White Turbo with painted wheels

I think graphite would look great on a white car

Re: White Turbo with painted wheels

It looked GTREAT in the eighties and it STILL looks great today if done right.. and that is done right!

Re: White Turbo with painted wheels

I think the painted front slats look great. Not seen that before. I would leave the wheels alone or maybe paint black.

Re: White Turbo with painted wheels

I for one think the white on alloy wheels look stunning. Especially those HREs.

Re: White Turbo with painted wheels

I did a little 'homage' to all you guys with beautiful white Turbos by putting together a little video/slide-show of a few prime examples. Sorry I didn't get everyone's in that has published on this site but I the video size kept growing and growing.

    http://video.google.co.uk/videoplay?docid=2485400163855287154&hl=en-GB

PS: This is my first ever video so next one (I am thinking Cobalt) will hopefully be a little better.

PPS: Google video really shrinks the footage so the quality is not that great. It looks better with a small browser window size.

Re: White Turbo with painted wheels

Thanks Alex, nice Homage. My car is in 5 or 6 shots..... I would assume you have ordered white as well?

Re: White Turbo with painted wheels

...no, still undecided actually. Cobalt is still #1, with white #2, and ruby red #3. But Dark Olive could also make a late burst for the flag.
