    re exaust pipes

    hi guys,
i am new on the board and would like tyo say hello to everybody,

i really hate to see the tail pipes dirty can anybody suggest how to keep them shining?

and also anyone knows when the stainless steal tail pipes will be available from te-quipment?by the way i own a 997s.FANTASTIC CAR.
    thank you again.

    Re: re exaust pipes

I totally agree the tailpipes are not a nice chrome finish ,thats why i ordered the chrome tailpipe option but unfortunately my c2s came through this week without them, they are available very soon through tequipment in the uk .

You would be surprised how nice you can make the standard tips look by using P21S Finish Restorer and a little elbow grease. It takes the tips from looking dull to almost a polished aluminum look.

    Re: re exaust pipes

Thanks Phil will try and polish them up first with some chrome polish,i have some Autosol chrome polish which may do the trick

    Re: re exaust pipes

"Luster Lace" works for me, sort of cloth strings with metal polish in them, availabe from car shops and motorcycle stores, i tried elbow grease once but it was too hard

I went to www.Lusterlace.com and it does seem like Luster Lace would work well for polishing exhaust tips. I don't have my 997S yet (planned on polishing the tips as soon as I got it) but was wondering how I would get a rag between the two tips. The Luster Lace strips seem ideal for the job. I ordered some today. Thanks for the tip.

    Re: re exaust pipes

I use P21S polish to clean the tips. Don't be afraid to rub hard, and the first time may require more than one application:

Once they're nice and shiny, I use RejeX to keep them that way--it minimizes the amount of black gunk buildup and yellowing. It also works great at minimizing brake dust buildup on the wheels, and bug splats on the windshield:

    Re: re exaust pipes

Luster Lace works well for me also. I use it on my M3 and wifes Z4 and I plan to use it on my 997s when it arrives.( 12 weeks, I hope) Welcome aboard

    Re: re exaust pipes

Yep you guys were correct i have just polished my exhaust pipes with Autosol metal polish and they look like chrome pipes would look, well worth a few minutes of elbow grease

    Re: re exaust pipes

You can also wetsand with 600+ paper to get a smooth finish then polish and they will almost look like chrome!
