I'm with you Gnil, if I want a manual, I don't want an auto-blip, thats the point of a manual, to be involved in the whole shifting process from start to finish, so what if the execution is worse than a computer assisted one? manual is not about laptimes or perfect shifts. Part of the fun in the manual is trying to get good shifts and the rewards when you do, by yourself.

Not saying this has to be the same for everyone, to each his own I guess, but for me this is very clear.

On the PDK however, its the opposite, I want all the computer nannies to make it the most efficient, fast and perfect shifts possible.

I would go even further, if I want a manual I don't want a modern car. Manual is a technology of the past, it belongs in pre dual clutch era cars.

I have had a 911 clutch cable break 20 miles from home.  Once you get it rolling and pull it out of gear before you stop no problem. It was late at night and I drove it all the way home shifting with no clutch pedal.  Wow, almost 30,years ago now.   Not the easiest thing in a 1982 SC but fun. In my current turbo is is much easier and also a very positive shift. Not good for the car in the long run.

i would also prefer either manual or PDK. Not the auto blip.  Either ride a bicycle or a tricycle. A bike with training wheels is just silly.  (And yes, the PDK is the tricycle in this analogy).

There will not be a GT2, just a GT2RS. It will be launch next summer.

Consistent with the heads-up I have been given, have the No 1 build slot at my OPC and hope to get it before the onset of the 2017 winter season, will probably trade in my 991 GT3 RS.

What I am really keen to find out is whether it will have the mooted reverse engine-gearbox configuration of the 2017 RSR race car, as the presumed homologation model. That would make it truly special, apart from monstrous HP, etc.

    Good to hear. Smiley

Funny, a guy I know asked two German Porsche dealers about a 991 GT2 RS a while ago (when I told him that Porsche is going to build one) and both dealers denied that this is true. Now he (that guy) ordered (Vorvertrag...basically a reservation) at another German dealership and he will probably be the first as well. I guess he owes me dinner now. Smiley

The Speedster R is still in the rumor mill...so... Smiley However, if it comes, don't expect a bargain price for this one like for the 911 R. Smiley

Will the GT2 RS also come with a manual option? The last GT2 RS has exploded in value (bubble IMO).

Only 500 for the world pretty much guarantees a high price - add to that the light weight, 625hp RWD, loved 997 chassis, etc...

997GT2RS will never be affordable again...

Funny how you could buy them way under MSRP not long ago. As I said, bubble pricing. When people suddenly realize they like something they never did, it's probably not a good sign. Such is the case with a lot of Porsches lately. Manual 991.2 GT3 (and possibly future manuals and NA) could possibly tank prices for the more modern GT cars.

Today we have a bubble or whatever you want to call that. Any kind of sports car is overrated in price. However - some of the most wanted sports cars are kind of affordable. Take the GT3 RS - it was 100k above list and today it is almost back on list. Smiley

My 07 manual turbo with limited slip is not exactly loosing money. Worth what I paid for it four years or so ago. Now at 86,000 miles.  Who knows in ten years?

Do you expect UK dealers to get as many as 2 GT2RS each? I was expecting it would be more limited supply like the 911R. I
