    Differences in Front Trunk

    Did you know about the differences in the front trunk???

    Very curious

    i noticed some editions have 2 small lights, whereas others have only one.

    Mine has only one light in the front trunk how about yours?

    Also some editions feature a small metal panel in the botton of the front trunk, whereas others dont!!

    The "light" in lower left of your picture isn't a light at all. It's a glow in the dark safety release to open the trunk from the inside.

    Exactly! It's THE law. No matter how small the trunk is, mfgrs are required to install them. The Boxster has them in BOTH trunks. Have you SEEN how tiny the rear trunk is?

    The pic i posted is small but i ve seen it also large in ebay. i ll post the link. i ve seen it in previous pics also

    Here is how the North American manual describes the escape handle:

    Trunk Entrapment
    Your vehicle is equipped with an internal trunk
    release mechanism.
    A person trapped in the luggage compartment
    can release the lid from the inside using unlocking
    handle A.
    The handle A is fluorescent and glows in the dark.

    well my trunk does not have this release.Maybe its only for Porsche America and in the 997 brochure the trunk does not show or mention such release

    so...it seems that this is installed only on US cars, due to their 'extreem' security legislation.
    Please, can anyone try to trap himself in the trunk to see if it realy works?

    I locked myself in to confirm that it worked -- which it did, but the only thing i saw glowing on the inside was Elvis.

    You guys down there don't have the violent crime problem we have up here. I think that's one of the reasons for the trunk release specs.
