    Re: Koenigsegg Regera

So if you call the LaFerrari, 918 and P1 Hypercars.... what is this supposed to be? Ultra-Hyper-Car?

This are performance datas of a race boat or race-plane.... this is out of this world!

And on top of it, it even looks great! Smiley

Christian von Koenigsegg call it a Megacar like the One:1.  1Megawatt= 1341hp.

It´s amazing this down to earth attitude from Mr.Koeigsegg. This guy is a car company owner and still has time to deal with this kind of interview coming from someone who isn´t from EVO or any other professional car magazine Smiley

Car itself seems to be a tech master piece , and it looks beautiful, I love it in and out.

I absolutely love everything about it, the looks, those doors, that windshield, the rear like a fish...

Of course the numbers are crazy, I just hope that reliability is top also.

Christian von Koenigsegg is a remarkable guy! So down to earth and rally passionate about cars. His detailed knowledge about the car is impressive.

The Regerea is really something special. Only 80 cars to be produced. Talking about exclusivity!

Another movie Schmee did while in Sweden. Factory tour showing the Koenigsegg production line.

    Re: Koenigsegg Regera

After watching the video again I have to say: "this sounds is annoying". It sounds like motor boot and not like a car. Monotone engine sound, one gear principle. No reeving, no excitement.  Other than that the car is absolutely stunning.

    Re: Koenigsegg Regera

Saw it a Geneva. Did actually not like it looks.

    Re: Koenigsegg Regera

I don't like it either. I don't get what he is trying to do with no gearbox and ICE. I can see how this works on a Tesla but on a car with ICE it doesn't make sense imo. Also the look from the back, with no glass for the engine and the cabin, is terrible imo.

"Stolt svensk"  when you see what CvK with team can realize with relatively small budget for R&D and few employees. Astonishing! smiley

    Re: Koenigsegg Regera

I still think that the car is insane. But again since I checked the video I have to say that the noise is very unsexy!

    Re: Koenigsegg Regera

The more I looked at it, the more I cast doubt on the up side down wing mount.

It looks really cool that's for sure, but I am not sure about the force acting on the wing and the mount.

Conventional wing mount transfers the downforce straight down, but the Koenigsegg design seems to not do that, it seems to want to exert a rotating force to the bottom chassis mounting point for the support, like lifting the car.

The only car I current have that I am not attached to and is willing to part way to make room for the Koenigsegg is my minivan. But then again I needed the room in the minivan.

Everything else I loved more than a Koenigsegg.

    Re: Koenigsegg Regera

Absolutely not. I think my F12 is way better. Plus, the big lamb is way too big and unwieldy to drive around. Don't think the A-Vent-A-Door has anything that the F12 can't do better. And if I want that flashy-ness of the Lambo, I will just take out the 918...........

The Huracan is much more nimbler. If only Lambo put the proper doors on them.

This thing is sweet. Will never buy a car this expensive unfortunately, but still sweet. Love the doors on Koenigseggs too.

    Re: Koenigsegg Regera

Whoopsy, the reason that the wings are mounted like these is that the biggest effect of it (roughly 2/3rd) is generated by the underside of the wing, and only 1/3rd of it by the top side. Attaching it like this decreases the disturbance of the airflow under the wing, hence making it more efficient. As an added bonus, the centre of gravity of downforce is further at the back, increasing the effect of the generated downforce even more.

Having said that, I dislike the looks as well...

    Re: Koenigsegg Regera

I know what the press release said. I actually don't mind the look.

But there is this little detail called the fulcrum effect. The wing mount is cantilevered out, with downforce applied at one end, what happens to the other end? A force is applied to lift that end. Simple physics.

"increasing the effect of the downforce on the rear wheels even more due the lever effect (at the expense of the downforce on the front wheels)".
Presumably, there was enough downforce on the front wheels anyway due to other measures to make such an increase in rear wheel downforce desirable.

Yes, most likely they have no clue what they have done. Someone decided to attach the wing from the other side as a practical joke.

You mean the front of the struts? Or the front of the car?
If the first: easily solved by adding som carbon fibres... CFRP is easier to strengthen specifically for tension than for compression.
If the second; well, make the front lip a bit longer so the effect of that gets larger too... Smiley

    Re: Koenigsegg Regera

I haven't seen the Regera in the flesh, but I suspect that the impression of the position of the rear wing is deceptive. To satisfy Euro Type Approval requirements the wing cannot project further rearwards in plan view than the outer contour of the rear bumper, whereas the photographs allow the impression that it might project beyond the rear bumper.
The leverage due to a "cantilever effect" is in fact no greater than if the struts had been attached to the underside of the wing.

As Joost suggested, it is probably a case of "form follows function", and the struts were designed to maximise the area of the more significant low-pressure surface of the wing, that is, the lower surface.

Well yes that strut mount will be under great stress, be it compression or tension depending on the design. But then again when that mount is rigid as if it's a one piece with the body, then the whole front of the car will get lifted........

That lift will be more than a conventional mounted wing, as in the normal wing the rear get squished down by the downforce but there is no rotating force to lift the front even more.

Not true, if you are thinking of a 911 GT3, for instance, as having a "normal wing".
The GT3's rear wing is also sited well aft of the rear axle, so its downforce creates a moment about the rear axle centre-line which would create lift at the front axle, which has to be countered by the front downforce due to the front spoiler lip and central radiator air being ducted up over the front trunk-lid.
