My first -- a 968 -- was Guards Red with cashmere interior. Actually, it was the last one on the dealer's lot, so I had no choice. Nobody makes a red like Porsche, and after 10 years it still turns heads and seems like it's on fire in the sunlight. This time, I'm going with Seal Grey and sand beige on the S I've ordered. I wanted to try something different and it's a combination you don't see very often. I do like the silver, but you see too many of them where I live.
It's all a matter of personal preference. If you want to spend the bucks, I'd go with the GT silver. Good luck.

Basalt black looks great but keeping it looking great not so good, even finger prints show up on it. Arctic silver easiest to keep clean, seal grey also good, perhaps more distinguished than arctic silver. In your case, having had silver I'd probably go for seal grey with the 2 tone black / grey leather and centre console in exterior colour. But it is a personal thing ultimately.

What helps decide is going to your Porsche dealer and snooping around. Check out the various demo cars they have, for interior color, outside color, the matching of both etc. I spent an hour on the second floor of West London Porsche scanning and test-sitting/listening all the Boxsters they had available.. demo cars, newly ordered cars, pre-owned... and then went outside and continued to stare at the various color options from all angles.
The choice range for me was similar.. seal grey or basalt black. I ultimately went with basalt black for both pre-order and impulse-purchase, as I simply adore the color for a sporty vehicle. If you have a garage and live in NC, black is a gorgeous choice. I'd recommend getting a grey interior with it though as that reduces the burn factor for your behind during those 100+ F summer days.
I've had a pitchblack Audi TT roadster in NC for almost 4 years. It was really a non-issue to keep it clean due to the garage and the mostly nice weather. Here in the UK, without a garage, it already looks like much more of a challenge to keep my car in a state where you can actually determine that the base color is black.

I couldn't agree more. "Nice" dealers usually recommend colours, especially regarding resale value. I wouldn't choose too "flashy" colours because they will surely hit resale value. It also depends on what somebody wants: a "flashy" car or a more "subtle" car. If I would work at a law firm, I would probably go for darker colours. As a table dancer at a strip bar in Las Vegas, I would probably go for yellow, pink or whatever.

Seal grey. No doubt. Too many silver cars around (mine e.g....hehe).
Black- like you said- hides the lines of the car.

I just want to give a little hint in favour of basalt..:
Basalt makes the car smaller and lower, more sporty, nasty...(but indeed it erases some off the lines, esp; those of th bumpers)
Silver is always classy
Seal is newer, but in belgium 80% of the new 997 and 987 are seal...

And none in France as I found out on Sat and Sun!!!! I would be happy with Artic or Silver! The stone chips dont show up that much on either and if you drive normally you'll probably get loads. Black looks stunning but is a lot of work to keep clean!
