GT3RS Confirmation.

In a conversation I had today with the CEO of the Official Porsche Importer he confirmed the production of the GT3RS,
Limited to 200 cars,deliveries starting this autumn.
In order to be accepted as a buyer you should have owned at least a couple of Porsches.
He confirmed that I will get mine.
No specifications about the car is known.

I still wonder if this car will be street legal.
I heard a lot of things about a new GT3 RS over the past weeks but nothing about street legal.

Otherwise, why would they bother, when you can already buy a Cup or GT3RS now for the track?

GT3RS based on the new GT3 maybe? (the current one is still based on the "old" GT3 design, although the GT3RS is actually a product of it's own with a lot of professional racing parts).
What surprises me a little bit is the fact that a GT3RS street version rumor is heard only by customers and dealers but never from the factory. Does it make sense to keep it that secret? I don't know. Maybe they really plan a limited 200 cars series and they want to sell therse 200 to special customers. Maybe...

I'm not familiar with Porsche racing cars. Is this a factory production racer and if so, how does it compare withthe upcoming GT3?

Not bad at all

It will be hard to get your hand on one for sure.

I really doubt it will be US street legal though.

Porsche is going to start a new Porsche Cup based on a new car and in order to homologate the car for racing they have to build at least 200 street GT3RS.

Since Porsche is the only marque for the Cup races, why is homologation required? Also, if the previous Cup was based (loosely) on the street GT3 (500 lbs lighter), why would they need to base the new Cup on the street GT3RS (which will not be as extreme as the Cup cars)?

I'm confused...

According to an article in the UK-based Porsche World magazine, the GT3 RS will be a GT3 that weighs 100 kg less. No changes in drive train. There will be a plastic rear window like the Cup cars, no power windows, no A/C, and a stripped interior, probably similar to the pervious RS models. The only color is white and you can get either blue or red wheels with matching body script. 200 cars to be built for this fall with 10 going to the UK. No mention of any cars for the US. UK dealers are taking deposits but Porsche GB has not confirmed availability. Some rumour that the RS will only be sold to existing GT3 owners but this is unconfirmed and may be a UK specific rule.
