    I think you found a good buyer, some times ppl just love the car, I once sold a 996 turbo x50 2003 (feb) 3500km for 137k thats about the price I bought it but I regret it until now even though I have a 2004 x50 but they are not the same, I just dont like this one, the color is just not right and I really love the new design, besides as soon as the new turbo come out I will be the first to buy,
    one more thing about the carrera S, its still in the garage and it was there for 2 weeks, they said there is a new part for all the new carrera's incloding the ones thats not sold yet!? (I checkd the car and there was nothing wrong with it)
    what about the 997 carrera's before this date? sorry I didnt ask!

    at least the turbo has alreasdy gotten past the initial depreciation hit, whereas a new 997S will be taking it all over again.

    i wouldn't trade my '02 turbo for a 997S.

    Do you mean that there's a recall out and that the new car is included? That might be the reason why the dealer told you about that "new part". Next time ask him to elaborate and ,at least, tell you what will be changed and why.

    They said its something for the filter and it takes less than 60 min to fix it.
    I'll post here on sat for more detaild information, cause thats what the sails man know and Ill ask at the garage on saturday.

    Its Finally here and I'm really happy that I've made this decision and thats a strange thing because evry time I buy a new car I feel some regret about buying it but later I like it or some time hate it!, the only car that I Love and never regret buying is Porsche.

    I'd get the 997. When it comes time to sell the x50, the color may be a factor, and since the dealer is basically exchanging the car, id take the deal.

    you will miss the power if you go for the carrera s, trust me.

    The TT X50 makes a GT3 seem sluggish let alone a 997S, the powerkit produces an altogether sharper car with the GT2 engine. I've just had a PDE in a GT3 and when I drove my TTX50 home the difference in performance that the TTX50 had over the GT3 was numbing.
    Remember TTX50's are pretty thin on the ground and will I think when the new 997 TT appears be the 996 of choice for used TT purchases cos the power to weight ratio will be nearer the 997 TT's figures

    I have the same problem with you. I just sold my 2001 GT3 and I wait in the next 10 days a F430.
    The problem is now that i am between buying a 996 Turbo or a 997 Carrera S. Turbo is a little bit cheaper here in Greece.
    But i think that i will go for the power and not for the new model.

    Aisxos this is not a problem. If you are going to have a F430 what's the reason to buy a new 977? You could have the two best supercars of the millenium..

    Keep the X50,and wait till 997 Turbo comes!No doubt,the new Carrera S is very fast,it is just spectacular,but the 996 Turbo S is a real beast,which can easy handle much more powerful and expensive,so called, "supercars"!!!

    from an economic point of view i think that the right choice is the turbo .(not so much deprececiation).id go fro the carera untill the 997 tt is out . good luck.tough but sweet decision hehe

    Actually, while the engine identifiers have "M96" in them- the motors in the GT3, GT2 and Turbo/S have no lineage with the modular M96 of the 986/987 Boxster or 996/997 Carrera.
