    Some CL 65 AMG rumors

    Today I heard from one of our AMG sources that the new CL 65 AMG's 1000 Nm torque figure is actually electronically limited! Without limitation, the CL 65 AMG engine delivers impressive 1200 Nm torque. Ouch.

    Two additional rumors: up til now, all engines seem to deliver substantially more than the claimed 612 HP, around 650 HP are in the word.
    0-300 kph acceleration is rumored to be in the 22(!) seconds range. Ouch again. Just for comparison: the Lamborghini Murcielago has been tested slightly under 30 seconds. Ouch again.

    Thanks. Maybe I should read the official Mercedes website from time to time.

    I'm so fascinated by this engine, I hope it won't be limited to the CL 65 AMG only. I wonder, does my E 55 have space for such an engine?

    why not Brabus?

    I think they already put a V12 twin turbo engine into the E-class, if you do the upgrade, don't change anything exterior wise

    Brabus is a Tuner in my opinion, even if they have the status of a car manufacturer. AMG is part of DC, they have access to DC development and resources and I think I'd always prefer a product from AMG over any product of Brabus. Just my personal opinion.

    Regarding the Brabus E V12: I'm not sure if I'm impressed. AMG had to limit the torque (and probably the power too ) to 1000 Nm (from 1200 Nm) on their CL 65 AMG V12 bi-turbo engine, so this engine is clearly a treat, a real diamond in engine technology. I also wonder if the auto tranny, drivetrain, etc. of the Brabus E V12 resists to the increased stress. And last but not least: Brabus is too expensive.

    A last note: there are rumors on the internet that Brabus and/or other Tuners work together with AMG/DC when modifying their cars. I can assure you that to my knowledge, AMG/DC do not provide any development help and/or resources for Tuners, including Brabus.

    BTW: there is one Tuner which is rumored to have (still) good ties to AMG. The name is MKB and it has been founded by one of the former AMG owners.

    Yes, MKB is very popular now in Asia, especially in Tokyo. I have seen couple of K32. I heard they also offer suspension tunning by re-programming the air suspension software. But in term of engine power output, they are very conservative compare to Brabus and AMG.

    MKB concept is very similar to Alpina in my opinon.
