    Info Released on the new 997 Turbo

    Dunno if you heard this because a lot has been said and written about the forthcoming 997 Turbo
    Porsche released info,mentioning.

    500 Hp
    DSG Gearbox
    PCCB's Standard !!

    PS> GT3 with 20 more HP over 996 and 18 inches wheels!!

    Haha why should Porsche, the epitome of greed, make PCCB a standard option if they can charge like 10k extra? Doesn't sound credible to me.

    well it is because the turbo is placed to iam at ferraris lambos etc.
    weight saving, etc.

    DSG gearbox... That's great, and I know they need to hold-par with Ferrari, but I hope they have the 6-speed as an option, or the entire car becomes irrelevant to me. Paddle shifting is slightly faster on a course, and amuses F1 fans and video game and gadget geeks, but it takes away one of my favorite driving thrills. Driving in a race is about winning. Driving on the street is about enjoyment. Hope we have the choice.

    You bet there will, there are lots of people that feel the same way, including myself, especially here in europe. A 911 with only an auto-shift as an option can be a deal breaker for me (I say "can" becuase it depends on what the competition offers at that moment), so they'd loose customers for no reason since offering a manual along side the auto is no big deal production cost wise compared to what the posible sales loss.

    the magazine mentions that it will be introduced along with the 997 GT3 before 2006!!

    Because they're smart, too. From a marketing stand point, it looks as if they are doing you a favor. But, in the end, they'll jack the price up substantially over the 996.

    Anyone care to take a guess as to how much Porsche will increase the base price over the 996TT. My guess is a base price of $129K.

    I think that is slightly high. Porsche is making an effort to promote some "value" benefits of the 997 model line. Thus, I think they will do similar to the 997/S and increase the price only moderately, but will also raise it by $2-3k annually. If a Turbo S coupe is $131,400 base, I think 997 turbo will undercut by a few bucks...$125k.
