    New 997S in NM

Picked up the car about 10 days ago and finally got a chance to wash and apply three coats of Zaino. Unfortuneately, I got the dreaded "System Fault" message right after washing the car - back to the dealer tomorrow.

    Re: New 997S in NM

    Great car... GT SIlver?
    -Joost-

    Re: New 997S in NM

Arctic Silver, full black leather, 6-speed, adaptive, heated sport seats, self-dimming mirrors, 19" Carrera classic wheels with painted wheel caps, multi-function steering wheel, Sport Chrono, Nav, Bose, remote CD, Porsche crests in seats.

    Re: New 997S in NM

Nice car, Nice setting... Wheels look great with the Silver (I usually prefer Carrera S)...Congratulations!

    Re: New 997S in NM

    Nice pic, like the wheels

Can't believe that annoying front latch actuator/system fault thing is still going on

    Re: New 997S in NM

This is amazing - I make a post and within five minutes we have replies from Holland and New Zealand! What a small world!

Add Spain and Germany to your list.

    Re: New 997S in NM

    Very nice car BalloonMeister!
    nice picture too!

Do you know where the system fault problem comes from?
Is it like Carlos says, from the front trunk actuator located near the driver's seat?
Maybe it doesn't like liquid poored on it!
Hope it's nothing serious, sounds like it's happened to you before.
    Good luck!

Plus the UK and now Texas.

    Congratulations! Great car.

    Re: New 997S in NM

Congrats great car and option, fix that little problem then enjoy evry mile
P.S. add Qatar to the list

    Re: New 997S in NM

997C2S, my System fault message was constant. It was always on, but I could hide it to check the oil level by using the lever on the lower left hand side of the steering column. (operating lever for on-board computer, item 15 in the cockpit quick reference guide) It would come back on after restarting the car or by going into the INFO section of the center display.
The parts that were replaced on my car were:
996-624-119-01 actuator, 997-511-053-00 lower lock & 997-511-117-00 actuator. These parts are on restriction. My dealer had to send a download of the trouble codes to Atlanta for evaluation before they were authorized to order the replacement parts.
Refer your dealer to this thread if they have not encountered this problem before, I promise you that it will be of great help to them.
Good Luck, it is a simple fix now that the problem parts have been identified.

Now you even have a reply from good old Granger Indiana.

    Re: New 997S in NM

Brian Can you post a pic of your 997s midnight blue please?

    Re: New 997S in NM

Stunning car with that background! Love the way arctic silver reflects light.

And now he even gets the needed repair parts of the problem at fault for his dealer!

Fanch, apparently some of these actuators have a faulty seal and when the car is washed the water may cause it to malfunction, hence the system fault appears usually after washing the car.

    Re: New 997S in NM

    Re: New 997S in NM

    A "bit barren"???

Picture was taken at the western front of the Sandia mountains in Albuquerque, NM. And this year we have had record moisture for Jan - Feb!

Most of the southwestern states are deserts. It is unlike the eastern states and Europe which have forests everwhere. But because of the huge amount of rainfall this winter, most of the deserts are in full bloom. A beautiful site to see the desert in beautiful colors. Unfortunately, in the next few years, because of the huge rainfall, massive brush fires will come back.
