    Nicks new Targa 4S

Thanks to Nicks (nberry) very generous offer for me to tag along to pick up his new Targa, I have the chance to open up this thread and show this beauty to you guys. He'll chime in later with all the details about the car and a more comprehensive review of it vs his GT3. But for now enjoy some pics of this beauty.

Nick specced this car just perfectly, the blue exterior compliments the interior tan so well, and in the daylight it looks fantastic. I'll also point out that compared to the GT3 and the NA 911s the new turbo engine with the sport exhaust is not lacking in the sound department at all.

Last touch before we left the dealership, clear side blinkers, what a huge difference such a small detail makes.

A few other nice cars we saw at the dealership, although IMO Nicks car was the best looking one of the lot.

The 718 looks so much better in the metal than in pictures.

And the perfect Turbo S for RC, even the interior trim is black aluminum

It's going to be a challenge keeping it this clean though

Again a huge thanks no Nick for bringing me along for such a happy moment, we had a blast, and the car is so fantastic !

Awesome, congrats to Nick and glad you got to see the new car delivery.wink

Emm, you will get your own one day I am sure. kiss

    Re: Nicks new Targa 4S

Lovely choices Nick, the tan looks great with blue - always enjoy this combo in Ferrari but weird how so few Porsche buyers appreciate it?  (But bias here as we have tan with green...).  And great shots of the happy event Enma!

Great looking car Nberry. Looks fantastic in that color.

    Re: Nicks new Targa 4S

Thank you all. I am very happy as to how it came out.

Enmamual and I had a lot fun picking up the car. Sadly, he must leave San Diego in a couple weeks and return to DR to start his career. He is already missing San Diego but promises to return. Who knows maybe for good.😀

    Here are my initial impressions.

If there is turbo lack it is hardly noticeable. The car responds almost immediately. It has more than enough torque. That said, the GT3 response is quicker and pulls harder. The 50hp difference is clearly felt.

The steering is heavier than my GT3 but I expected that since it is AWD. But the positive is I negotiate  curves and turns on speeds as high if not higher than the GT3. AWD with RWS makes me faster and better driver.

There is a difference between PDK and PDK-S in shifting and it is noticeable. PDK-S is is not only quicker but harsher. The  PDK in the Targa is smooth as silk and provides a More comfortable driving experience.

Though the exhaust is not as loud as the GT3 the SE does the job. It provides you with the sensory experience without overwhelming you. When the car was started and driven out of the deliver bay my wife said to me I hope it isn't going to sound like thr GT3 and I assured it would not. The SE gurgles and rumbles while stopped but on acceleration gives a nice aggressive sound which doesn't overpowers the ears. I am very happy with the exhaust.

The build quality so far is good. There are no rattles which is a frequent complaint of Targa owner. The interior leather work is outstanding. Stitching is perfect and the 14 way seats are comfortable. I need to get use to the sport steering wheel and navigation system. There are a lot of buttons. Apple play/Porsche Connect need to be hook up.There is a lot to learn and I am not sure I need all that information or want it. Whatever happened to enjoying driving a sport car for the sport of it?

. However, I already have issues with the top mechanism and must get it serviced. Also, my passenger window doesn't stay up when I power it up. The rear spoiler doesn't retract. I think all these problems are related to the top mechanism.

Over all I am very happy with my decision to buy a Targa. My wife says it's the best looking car I have owned. I love having a partial top. You get the open top experience without being entirely exposed to the outside elements. After owning many Cabs, the Targa is a perfect compromise.

Nice car Nick, congratulations. Love the tan interior, much nicer than black or worse sliver. Enjoy.

    Re: Nicks new Targa 4S

IMG_0974.JPGThank you all. Somehow my picture got screwed up. Above is the interior and below is the car side view and the last picture of me enjoying the car.

I took the car to the dealer and managed to take care of the roof and passenger issue. Also, got hook up with Apple play but did not sign up for Porsche Connect (Wi-Fi and other goodies in the car like Google Maps). I didn't see the need since I have my IPhone in the car.

Today I drove the car exclusively in manual and what a difference. The performance of the car along with the sport exhaust are greatly enhanced. The throttle response is immediate and no discernible turbo lag. In manual the SE becomes alive with the shifting through the gears. The car has more pep and honestly performs like a GT car.Smiley

I cannot tell how happy I am with this purchase.

I appreciate all  your kind remarks. Thank You.Smiley

I got the Bose and it is a waste of money. I drive the car with the top down or I don't drive it. With the SE, wind and traffic noise hearing the stero is a challenge. Maybe the Burmester would make difference but I doubt it.

i was aware that this would happen and was going to order the stand Porsche system..However, since it's likely I will trade the car for a 991.2RS (assuming they build one) in about 18 months both my SA and sales manager highly recommended up grading the sound system.Smiley
