d997h:Thanks for the link, very helpful. I have the CTEK usually and only on our 987 in the cigarette lighter socket and was surprised that the damn thing didn't work in my 981, when I tested it... ... now, I know ....
Even the Porsche charge-o-mat doesn't work in the cigarette lighter socket you have to use the socket in the chubby box.
Porsche Boxster GTS Carrara white / Volvo V40 R Design daily drive
Went for a brief drive on the weekend. The weather was a bit cool to take the top off, but man the sound!!!!!! Not the most powerful car, but it's just right. The gear changes remind me of the 4.0, please the shifter is much more ergonomically located. Can't get enough of this car!
Lars997:I can't understand why Porsche didn't build more of this beautiful car - same for the GT4. The front is awesome and looks even better than the GT3RS to me!
I guess they would have had to change the front etc. then for all the cars in the model line-up.
btw - an official P-dealer near my neighborhood currently has a slightly used (approx. 1000km) Spyder on sale - I am curious as to how long it will take to sell...
I see several Spyder for sell from private owners. Most of them dont really want to sell the car. They only hope for a high price ~120-130k. I dont see much demand in the 130k range.
Only one of them really want to sell. Last week he reduced the price vom 119k to 111k. Still not sold.
Maybe for a official Porsche dealer it is easier to sell a Spyder in the 120-130k price range, which is a premium of around 30% to the list price.
I hope we see the Spyder/GT4 again as 718, but with a similar specification (B6 N/A engine) as the 981 Spyder/GT4.
This will sell and stop the speculators.

In my opinion the prices will fall in the same fashion as the 991 GT3 RS prices are falling (in Europe at least). One needs just to be patient. Porsche built a lot of those cars and they are not really rare (2500 spyders, 5000 991 GT3 RS approx.) . Who bought them in order to drive them and enjoy them made the best buy; not really investment cars (imho).

Mike S:Can't get enough of this car!
Wonderful pic of two beauties I'm glad you enjoy your Spyder - if a guy like you who has access to the finest sportscars on the planet "can't get enough" of it, it says more than any journo article

Fully agree I am in the "enjoy them to the max camp" for sure: did a wonderful 4,500 km southern France and alpine passroads tour in June and just enjoyed a "Spyder max" weekend of which I'd like to share some pics and impressions with my RT fellows.
Why "Spyder max" weekend ? (1) joined the probably world's biggest Spyder meeting/panoramic drive last Sunday (22 Spyders), (2) joined maximum craziness turning the runway of an airfield into a Spyder playground (3) next day joined a GT4/Sypder only (with 2-3 exceptions) trackday at Bilster Berg - it can't get much better than that
"Spyders meets birds": originally the manager of the airfield permitted just a meeting on the site for taking some group pics of the Spyder crowd. When he spotted all the nice cars he suddenly also was infected by the Spyder fever and suggested to close the runway for 10 minutes so that we coukd enjoy some "drag race action" What a sight and what a sound with 22 Spyder rushing down the runway I am sure there will be some videos at YT anytime soon (shot from the tower) and I will post the link once I have it.

I've never been there before (shame on me) so it took some time to familarize myself with the track: it's a great little track (ca. 4,1 km) designed as a roller coaster with most corners being "blind" and one extremely steep section - almost like a mini NoS.
As you can see in this pic even the pitlane follows the roller coaster idea

The place originally was a camp of the British Army (used to store amunition) and some petrolheads initiated the project to turn the place into a racetrack a couple of years ago (finally some sort of "peace dividend" I can appreciate ).
On this photo (where I approach the end of the start/finish straight) you can spot one of the buildings which have been used to store ammo.

Here some pics of cars approaching/entering and exiting the sharp right hander after the start/finish straight: the layout reminds a bit of Spa Francorchamps (though Eau Rouge is missing at BB)

Highlight and most challenging sector is "Mausefalle" (mousetrap): 20% downhill into a lefthander with quite some camber and thereafter steep uphill with a view "into the sky" Hard to catch in a photo:

Anyway, the track seems to be made for cars like our Spyders/GT4s
Finally a quite funny shot made in front of our hotel: the gardener also seems to like the streamliner design

d997h:no issues with noise emissions this time ? Heard that in some other events, "they" had to slow down in various sections to meet environmental regulations ...
Still an issue, especially with a bunch of Spyders and GT4 Solution was to switch off the PSE during the morning session (though I don't think it helps a lot as you are in the upper rpm range anyway...), then there was only a limited number of cars allowed to enter the track at the same time (15-20 cars max - no problem with a bunch of 50 cars, as half of the crowd is checking tire pressure, fiiling gas or unloading the bladder anyway) - only for the last 2 hours or so the open pitlane concept applied. Still the strict noise emission rules are crazy as the track is located in the green with the next village located 4 or 5 km away...

Thank you all for the kind words. The car is truly under appreciated, not that I'm complaining. It just means the productions numbers stay low relatively speaking.
That looks like an epic event! Wish we had something similar here, but Spyders are so rare this side.
Fantastic pictures thank you for sharing Mike S and Porsche-Jeck . All those Spyders and GT4s together must have been a memorable sight. I heard that Porsche in Germany has authorized the creation of an official Spyder Owners Club , that is a remarkable recognition for this model .

Not yet official, but they are working on it
BTW not sure whether the sample of 20+ cars is of statistic relevance (at least representing about 1% of the global Spyder population ) but there were only few colourful cars - vast majority picked GT-Silver:
