    Carrera GT Ipoded....

Found an interesting picture on the net...

    Re: Carrera GT Ipoded....

What other music could you possibly need besides that of the engine?

    Thats the million dollar question.

I wonder how loud they have to turn it up when driving fast.

with the tops on at most RPMs, and off under 4500 RPM, you can easily enjoy music from the surprising good stereo.

    Re: Carrera GT Ipoded....

Hmmmm, can they do it for a 987 then...

It is my understanding Ferrari as well as other high end car manufacturers are providing for IPod connections as an option. If you do not own an Ipod and are a music lover you are really missing something. It is simply amazing.

    Re: Carrera GT Ipoded....

Just got my first mac a week ago. with itunes you can pick out your favorite music arrange it and burn your own "greatest hits" cd's. So the ipod is really not needed if you have a cd player in the car.

Apple rules! I swore off wintel sh!t years ago after one too many crashes, then went linux for a while but mac is the best by far.

    Re: Carrera GT Ipoded....

of course youd want music....its not insanity every minute you know...But then again, how about a better place for it then under the damn shifter!

you can do that with any cd burner software, pc, linux, or mac

and if you use common sense while using a PC (not an intel) then you dont have crashes.

my current PC has been up for 9d 21h 41m and the only reason it was down before that is because i was changing some hardware. A computer only performs as well as its user knows how to use it

Have had Mac OSX for about 18 months now. Not ONE system crash. Not one. Many program crashes on especially MS Word...go figure
Usually restart the machine every 2-3 weeks - and inbetween I only let it sleep.
The OSX is amazing compared to OS9...and I would think even more stabil than the Windows OS.
Only trouble is Apple service is pretty sucky IMO.
But switch to Mac and you won't go back

    Re: Carrera GT Ipoded....

Pretty arrogant of you to assert i lack common sense when using my computers. FYI i have been using them since my 386 sx16. I have owned may pc's, servers and now a mac. I started out with dos and went thru tomcat and jsp on linux. I know my way around a computer at least they thought so in grad classes at hahvaad.
Anyways when i bought my mac and turned it on it immediately used my existing monitor and internet connection without asking for non-existant 3rd party drivers etc etc. I along with millions of other users have had the myriad hardware and software conflicts native to the land of the blue screen.
Sure i could burn cd's in the past when i went out and bought a cd burner and the loaded its software and held my breath on the reboot.

BOTTOM LINE- night and day between wintel and apple. The power of marketing and the herd mentality. There is nothing as seamless as itunes for choosing and burning music cd's.

Well "what if" your going 150 red-lining with the top down

i never said/implied you were computer illiterate, you just made it seem like itunes was a miracle cd burner that could do anything. it has its pro's and con's. for me i use winamp for listening and nero 6 ultra edition for my burning duties. and then when i'm done with that, i can go buy pretty much any software title on the market and install it on my PC...can't do that with a mac. that being said, i cannot remember the last time i had a BSOD

bottom line - until os x or linux gets the software compatibility of windows, i'll stick with the later

and as for your original post, i just thought of...a cd can only hold ~700mb of music, while an ipod, @ minimum can hold 1 gig all the way up to 60gig (i think thats the biggest right now) so instead of 12 cd's laying around in your car somewhere, you can have 1 ipod with your entire music colletion

I'm still waiting for iLife, Keynote, Final Cut Pro... on Windows.

Software is not an issue on the Macintosh. While OS X does not have by far the same quantity of software available for it as Windows, the best programmes are usually available (and quite often are a Macintosh exclusive).
Truth is, the only area in which the Macintosh is lacking in the software department is games. And for that, there are game consoles (not to mention that gamers and Porsche drivers don't quite belong to the same demographics).

To be honest, the stability of Windows has been alright since Win 2000, and the user-friendliness has also improved with Win XP.
And yeah, you can use iTunes on Windows, too.

Still, you'll have to pry my 12" Powerbook from my dead, cold fingers...
Seriously, if you don't need a very specific programme that is Windows-exclusive, you have to try out a Mac. You will be blown away. Just like when you bought your first Porsche.

It's just an mp3 player with a HDD, nothing out of this world about it

I have no idea what makes it what it is. But I and five million other people think it is worth buying. The IPod provides me with everything I want in a portable player. Size. memory, ease of use, quality sound, compatability and versatility.

    Re: Carrera GT Ipoded....

I would say the only real bad thing about it that its not solid state based, so it's not something to keep in your race cars! Otherwise, it's a good item if you listen to music. I do not unless I'm in a cushy car.
