    Picked up my car today.....finally

    997S - Seal Grey
    Black Leather Interior
    Carrera S wheels
    Bose
    Sport Chrono
    Phone
    Electric Standard Seats
    Park Assist
    Sunroof
    CD Changer
    Heated Seats
    Multifunction Wheel
    Coloured Wheel Crests
    Rear Wiper

    All above except Bose, Sport Chrono and Phone are standard NZ spec

    My first Porsche! Went for a 250km drive this afternoon. First impressions -
    1.It's going to be hard keeping below 4200rpm, already hit 5000rpm 4 times while overtaking...
    2.PASM's great on our coarse chip roads - noticeably quieter and much smoother ride... demnstrator had -20mm + PCCB
    3.Had some difficulty getting comfortable in the seats... demonstrator had adaptive sports seats which were great

    QUestions:
    1.Comfort opening/closing of windows - seem to open but not close. Thought it did close this afternoon, but could be wrong.
    2.When entering text in phonebook is there any way to change from capitals to lower case without scrolling 3 lines with the dial?

    Else all's well.... going to Taupo tomorrow.. about 550km round trip

    Gorgeous car - congratulations!

    I found the adaptive seats much more comfortable than the standard seats on my test drive because I'm tall (1.91m) and slightly overweight (enjoy good food and drink too much!). But I think slimmer and less tall people may find the standard seats perfectly adequate. As far as I know, adaptive seats are factory fitted only so there's no point for to dwell on that now...just hope you enjoy your gorgeous car every day you can in your beautiful country. Lucky guy.

    Beautiful car (very nicely detailed..did the dealer prep it?) Looks an impressive dealership.
    The first photo is fantastic!! I've been to New Zealand a few times, it's such a beautiful country (much prefer it to Australia) drove up to Wairaki...The scenery is out of control....To drive that country in a Seal Grey 997S....I'm soooo jealous!!! Pls post some more pics of the car and country

    Thanks for the kind comments guys.

    Outlaw Hawk, it is manual... my first since an Audi A4 turbo quattro, 9yrs ago. For me the tiptronic would take the joy out of the experience...and the new gearbox/clutch is such a delight to use, much better than the 2000 996 I once drove. Hope not to get stuck in our traffic jams too often though...

    Robbo, quite similar spec to yours, I think... you're the guy with those cool red belts, aren't you?

    Booger, I remember your great Autumn photos...thanks. Forecast for today is for thunderstorms heading our way...I'll enjoy the drive regardless, but may not get the photos!

    bdballa, yes this is a great country, AND we have some fantastic driving roads!!

    easy_rider911, thanks for the reassurance re the seats. My overnight demonstrator had adaptive seats, but I could only sit in the standard seats in the showroom... it's probably just a matter of getting used to them.

    jfraser, yes the dealer prepped it. They're the best dealership for car detailing.. unfortunately the car is already bug splatttered, and has some tar on it. I'll be driving through Wairakei today, it's a nice drive around Lake Taupo... 7.30am now and weather looks great(for now).

    I agree with andrew, pic 2 is as good as i've seen. You could have broken in your 997 picking up some fries at the drive-thru. Nice car , nice showroom.

    I see what you mean....What a great drive, even in the rain. On the road it just goes where you point it... and that engine - the freedom you feel because it's so easy to overtake/pass trucks/buses etc and that's only using up to 5000rpm, and squeezing the throttle. The seats are fine, just needed to get the adjustments right. Those coarse chip roads out in the country are very loud, but we were getting used to it by the end of the day. A few rattles, but not surprising given the vibration from those roads. They are intermittent and surface dependent. Tyre pressures are as per manual. No wind noise issues at all. Surprisingly, from what I've read, the gearbox is super smooth and easy to use even at this stage.

    AndrewSS, yes I do have a hi res... whats the easiest way to send it?

    Off to the Coromandel tomorrow, not too many miles, but very windy roads, and hopefully views of the Pacific.

    Poor weather today...but fun nevertheless..
