What's the greatest discount people have received on an '05

Have read of a few fellows getting $4000 off MSRP in the New England area over the last month or so on an ordered vehicle. Must be that 4 feet of snow on the ground!

Friend of mine just got a $3000 off deal in Arizona.

    Go figure.

Couldn't get hard cash in the UK, but got offered an umbrella and a keyring ina dealership in the south of the UK. Laughed and the took my order to another OPC where I used to work. My ex collegue treated me a little better and offered mats and coloured wheel centres. not much, but better than nought.

Very very unlikely to cash off an new 987 in the UK IMO.

You Brits always seem to get hammered a little harder!

Before the days of the internet it was mostly up to the dealers good graces if you were going to get a "deal" or not. Now we have hard figures we can refer to......keeping everyone involved semi-honest.

There's supposed to be about a 13% mark-up in this car from dealer cost to MSRP. If their still making 6 - 7%...that seems more than fair.

Am I wrong or is it just another case of my Scottish DNA taking over?

Re: You Brits always seem to get hammered a little harder!

agreed, however, its all supply and demand. If I don't want to pay list, then someone else will and with a limited supply of cars to each dealer, demand outstrips supply. Hence no cash off the list.

Rumor is that production will be strictly controlled!

As not to have a repeat of the current 986 "Lot Rot" scenario.

You know what's difficult to find? An actual dealer's invoice. The BMW ones are all over the internet.

    This your first Porsche JZ?

Re: What's the greatest discount people have received on an '05

My first offer to the dealer was 7% off MSRP for an '05 S that was just built and waiting to be shipped to the US. The sales rep said "we can do that". Maybe I could have gotten more but that seemed like a fair mark up for the dealer. Should be here in a week or 10 days. Can't wait!

    That's an outstanding dealy!

    Nicely done amigo.

The cold weather areas of the country are giving the best deals.

According to my math, I figure they must have 3 feet of snow in Arizona!?

Was attempting to make the point that for the most part, deals are being made in snowy areas without someone having "to know sombody" at the dealership.

My friend in Arizona who got the $3000 deal knew the General Manager.

Was pleased to read on this board today that someone else received a $2500 bargain from a dealer in that same state.

    Wunderbar meine liebe!

Naturally, I did realise you were not setting a math puzzler when I "misinterpreted" your post.

Having driven through Arizona at nearly 100* (only Fahrenheit, of course!) the mental image of 3 feet of snow there did catch my imagination.

I knew that you knew I was'nt throwing you a math puzzler!

But you can drive in the desert there and an hour later be up in mountains full of snow.

Did you ever visit Flagstaff or Prescott? Happen to have a German friend that lives up in Prescott currently.

Where are you located in Europe?

Re: What's the greatest discount people have received on an '05

$3660 off a 987 S in Central New Jersey, which works out to about 6%.
