    Re: OFFICIAL: 911 R (2016)

    Adam2S:

I was talking to Rolls salesman last week about how had a customer who had asked him to source him a 991R.  He said the best price he had been able to buy one for was £480k. I don't believe he had any reason to make that up and given GT3RS were readily changing hands in the UK when first released for £275+ it would seem within the realm of possibility.  However £1M?  I don't know about that - its a huge leap of faith if you ask me and could just be that the owner of Magnitude Finance (who was interviewed for the article) owns one!

For whatever reason however, the UK market seems to be a even more bonkers on these types of cars than the rest of the world.  If the brexitmongers are right then there is going to some heavily burnt fingers as and when the market corrects.

Keep in mind that the top end, particularly, of the UK market doesn't by any means consist only of UK citizens, and those people are too mobile to worry about Brexit.

    Re: OFFICIAL: 911 R (2016)

I read that someone is asking 1 million pounds for an R.  I would certainly have been a customer for an R at list, as with so many others, but is this car really that desirable?  The psychology that drives such a market completely escapes my comprehension.  Assuming I had that sort of coin for a car, the R would not be my first choice for any of a number of reasons. Cars as a passion to be sure, but this sort of mania I find bizarre.

    Re: OFFICIAL: 911 R (2016)

The asking prices for the R are absurd. It's a car with high production numbers compared to other limited editions from Porsche and technically and performance wise it's not on another level.

A premium? Sure. 4x sticker? No way.

Because people are only seeing the $ sign and imagining the money they can make on one.

Most wanted it for the $, not for the love of the car.

If they really bring the next GT3 with manual, those R premium will cease to exist.

    Re: OFFICIAL: 911 R (2016)

It's not IF, the next GT3 WILL have a manual. People knows that for a long time already.

I have heard tales of them changing hands for up to £500k but this is just insane! yes

If true, maybe I should have gotten "mine"...I start to regret it. Smiley 500k is just insane.

It was a mistake anyways. The car was easy money on the street. Even if it only gives you 10 or 20k on top. Also - you buy the way for the upcoming specials. Once you made it on the list things are getting easier!

Actually having the PDK is the huge advantage over an R!

    Re: OFFICIAL: 911 R (2016)

    Of course it is.

I track from time to time but I am not a track rat and don't care about improving my time by yet another 0.01 second per lap.

I simply enjoy having a performance car with a proper manual much more then the best auto transmission on the market (and that's what PDK essentially is anyway)

I do care about that and it's much more fun to do that with a manual too.

    Thanks for the link!

A beautiful car no doubt - but I can't help myself, for me this car doesnt give the WOW factor as the GT3 RS does. Especially those front front fenders are missing big time. Also - the rims need to be that carbon color. Black LED lights are doing also hell of a difference. If I could choose I would always take the GT3 RS - even if I would get them for free and the value of the R might be triple!

Are you going with black for your 911R order? Saw a new Cayman in black and the Porsche paint looks excellent on his car. He got  a late 2016 built in April.

Yes it will be black. Smiley

Had to settle for Porsche flat black. Had I gotten PTS I would have asked for Nero Daytona from the Ferrari range. That gold hue is unreal under the sun.

100% agree. Nice location and nice car. Particularly in this surrounding I like the R. It's understated and exclusive at the same time. kiss

Black it is then, thanks for your reply! PTS Nero Daytona would have given away the plot but now everyone will think it's just a 3 year old Porsche 911. Ironic that a German orders British Racing Green and supposedly all the UK customers were denied PTS colors on their orders. I didn't realize the 911R has a higher compression motor to for this special ride.
