I see tons of 991 lately. Two years ago, I saw many 997, not anymore (with the exception of Cabs). Also haven't seen any 996 for a while...even buyers looking for a "cheap" 911 are avoiding the 996.

Mike S:How are 996 GT2 fairing in Germany, Christian?
Without having researched the used-car market for 996 GT2s I would venture the guess that this model (and the corresponding GT3 models) is not suffering from the same lack of interest as the bread-and-butter 996s, due to not having the same engine.
fritz
Doesn't the 996 Turbo have the "same" engine too? But too many built for it to keep value.
The 996 GT3 RS is highly sought after. Only 600 built and considered by some to be the most "raw" RS.

The most raw RS is the first, 73 Carrera RS 2.7. The 996 RS is the most raw GT3 - big difference

You answered your own question.
Happens a lot to someone at my vast knowledge level.

LOL! Just as I pressed send I thought "Grant will mark the use of RS rather than GT3 RS"
Cheers for keeping it correct!

The 996 RS is an amazing car, but before their demand went through the roof. I drove 3 different cars, 3 times to convince myself. The car is an absolute animal. It's the rawest GT3 for sure. I wish I had driven every other RS to compare, but I have not had the privilege yet!
M3ike:Kobalt, will be at the Ring from tomorrow afternoon on with Black Falcon. Will also try to meet Neel Jani to get his signature for my Dath Purple. Im staying at Agnesenhof whereabouts are you?
Agnesenhof seems to be nice but it was fully booked...
I'm on a trip with the family and are staying in Ernst (Mosel) from Saturday to Sunday so we will drive directly up to Nürburgring in the morning.
Will you be in Black Falcons box?

Yeah, that is a great car. We never had them imported here
The first RS we ever imported legally here was the 997.1 GT3 RS and we needed it since they made 991.1 GT3 for the US market with a sunroof

somebody I know who sold a lot of 996 GT2's said once it's not the Price for the GT2 but to find one that did NOT had a Crash....
Yes, a lot of 996 GT2 were involved in crashes. Why? Well...many 996 Turbo drivers switched and...

If true, maybe I should have gotten "mine"...I start to regret it. 500k is just insane.

I know but when I see sums like that, I kind of start thinking...
Has someone actually sold his 911 R for that kind of money?

I never trust asking prices. One example in the Ferrari world: a 2009 612 18k miles is offered at $129k when slightly lower miles ones are rumored to trade around $175k and asking at $185k... Go figure. Same for the FF. Asking are all over the place (saw a 2014 at $275k when they trade at $200k or less).

The only real sale I know of is my dealer paying $200k premium for each of the 2 Rs allocated to his 918 owners.

I'd take the money and run as much as I like the R...
I was talking to Rolls salesman last week about how had a customer who had asked him to source him a 991R. He said the best price he had been able to buy one for was £480k. I don't believe he had any reason to make that up and given GT3RS were readily changing hands in the UK when first released for £275+ it would seem within the realm of possibility. However £1M? I don't know about that - its a huge leap of faith if you ask me and could just be that the owner of Magnitude Finance (who was interviewed for the article) owns one!
For whatever reason however, the UK market seems to be a even more bonkers on these types of cars than the rest of the world. If the brexitmongers are right then there is going to some heavily burnt fingers as and when the market corrects.
