    997S has arrived

Took delivery of my 997S yesterday....the wait since October was worth it.
It has so much evolved from my previous '02 996 in every way..

    Re: 997S has arrived

Congrats. So you don't want you 996 back then!

So what other initial impressions do you have versus your 996?

BTW, what differences struck you the most compared to your 996C2?

    Re: 997S has arrived

Fantastic colour - car looks awesome!

    Re: 997S has arrived

Red colour is excellent...makes the car look like a beast!!!
    Is it tiptronic S????

    Congrats!!

    Re: 997S has arrived

    Loving that red....

Good choice, makes a nice change and makes the car look much sportier

    Re: 997S has arrived

Looks great!! I've got about 8 weeks left I'm jealous. Enjoy

    Re: 997S has arrived

The car is equiped as follows:
Full Leather, Adaptive Seats heated, Nav, GSM phone, Dimming Mirrors, Bose, CD, Sport Shifter, Sport Chrono, and a Fire Ext.

Took delivery on Mon with 18 mi on the clock..and have managed to put on about 110 mi so far.
My initial impressions vs the 996 are that it has really evolved..
The seating is much improved in as far as comfort/support and range of adjustment. By this I mean, in my 996 the top of the tach was obscured by the steering wheel since I use a more upright seating position, now the whole tach is visible.
Steering feel is much lighter, in particular going straight ahead, and not as subject to impact feed back. The variable ratio is noticable in cornering since I seem to be overdriving in corners a bit, car turns in a bit more for a given input than what I'am use to after 33,000 mi in the 996. I like it.
NAV is much improved and is great
GSM phone sound quality is great reported by the people whom I've called.
    Nice feature:
The OBC under the tach displays just about everything...The radio station or CD, Phone controls ie: number list, male call, answer, hang up. Turn countdown for the nav as you approach a turn. No need to look way off line for info. Nicely done.
A littel early in it's lif to really let her rip, and have been pretty diligent to keep the 4200 rpm cap but have briefly gone as high as 6k...yes the power is there...so hard to keep in check coming from a 996.
The electro ignition switch is such a new feel, being so light to the touch and the key slot is oriented slightly clockwise from the 996, the first few times of starting I had the key oriented wrong, a slight relearning required.
Did you know that in NAV when you go to the info screen where current position LAT & LON are displayed it gives you Altitude as well.
Speedo calibration is much tighter, within 1mph than was the 996 that was off 3.
Interesting to note that the continuous setting on the trip computer had +2 mi than did the odometer, I wonder where that came from...
In two weeks, I will leave on a road trip that will be approx 4500-5000 mi doing stints of 6-700mi/day
    My two day impression= GREAT!!
