There has to be more to the story. If this warranty denial is purely because of an owner participating and winning autocross's then anyone would be stupid to get involved in future events based on this info. Where is this guy and why is the info always second hand? Does he have the minutes from the arbitration posted anywhere? If the warranty denial is exactly as this has been explained, I'd be out there letting the P-world know about this story.
The guy is in our local PCA club. I've been talking to his friend who attended the arb hearing (Sean, the victim, is out of town). His car has smoked since it was almost new - well before he ever took it autocrossing. It had been to the dealership well before the first autocross for this smoking, but he was told was "normal". Hey, I don't find that response hard to believe at all given my Cayenne experiences to date. Apparently the arbitraition guy was a complete moron when it came to how cars work. Porsche overwhelmed him with technical talk and apparently that was enough. Also, the car had one low RPM type 2 overrev logged on the ECU which helped Porsche's case (despite their failure to even say whether it happened before that first smoking visit to the dealer). However, the car is also in need of it's second RMS replacement in a year.
