The big screen is actually Ok, what bothers me is the lack of consistency and busyness all over, that steering wheel with so many stalks and spokes, the mix of different button designs and textures together with no overall pattern, and the nightclub lighting just finishes it off I do like the interior of other Mercedes though, just this one could of been more graceful imo, but I admit it's entirely subjective

Not a fan of that interior either - like that old 300SL Roadster more...

Tesla has the Techno King and Mercedes has the Disco Queen. What ever happened to the decades of ergonomic research to maximize driver efficiency and effectiveness in all conditions? It was not that many years ago that the German automakers touted their interior lighting colors to enhance nighttime vision. Now it's how many light bars and how many colors can they fit in the car. Multi-colored displays impair, not improve, nighttime vision.
Is the new SL really a soft top or the fabric roof top in the pictures is camouflage?
Also a 2+2 SL. Of all the SLs, only the "Pagoda" I think had an optional rear bench.
It could be a strong rival for the Portofino as well as the GTC, provided the looks are right.

2022 Mercedes-AMG SL Reveal Delayed Until Oct 28
Mercedes has delayed the unveiling of the 2022 SL sports car by just over a week. It will now be shown on October 28, rather than October 20 as originally planned.
The looks are very samey with other M-B models and hence the car doesn't look expensive enough to rival Bentley or Ferrari. I don't think the removal of camouflage will change much.
The problem with M-B in recent years is that they have come up with so many models that look very similar and they have damaged their perceived value and prestige.

This is true.
The only MB models I am interested in purchasing are G Wagen and AMG One.

I think the styling is OK for the people who like this type of car. The return to soft-top is a very positive thing.
Huge PS/HP typical of M-B but huge weight too. I suppose a car for straight line people and for the boulevard.

Still waiting for the prices but I like it that all models are AWD.
Weight is under 2000 kg, which is basically similar to the C63 S Cab. Impressive.

But they've decided to go with this, the SL55 / SL63 will be using 4Matic+

What I like about the new SL are:
The abolition of the Vario-roof system in favour of the classic and lighter soft top.
The rear bench which is useful even for oddments incl. small children
The attractive 911-esque rear instead of the typically squared M-B rears.
Don't like:
The "Carrera Panamericana" imitation grille doesn't blend with the smooth styling of the rest of the car.
The huge weight (2 tonnes for a two seat cabriolet) which requires an unnecessarily high amount of HP to move quickly.
The need for standard AWD and no RWD option means the basic chassis, weight distribution etc, of the car is not perfect. It is not after all a 1000 HP supercar.
