    997 S Powerkit

I am currently browsing through the online calculators of insurance companies to find a good insurance for my new car.

In its online database, the German insurer HDI (which is cooperating with Porsche Financial Services) already offers a 997 S with 381hp next to the standard 355hp car. It seems that the Powerkit is finally around the corner.

I suppose somebody at PAG will bite his tongue...

I believe is listed as a 911S model for pricing.
Carrera S with 355hp or Carrera S with 381hp (which includes tha x51 package).

Insurance companies in Germany make a quote depending on the car, power, safety, number of accidents, etc.
Each model is quoted seperately based on the data they get from manufacturers. Apparently Porsche was a little bit too fast communicating the powerkit engine data to their "house" insurance company, HDI.
But I guess the power is a little bit wrong, it actually should read 380 HP. This is actually the power which has been rumoured for a possible powerkit in the past.

I'm very interested in this kit because I heard that it doesn't involve too many changes and may be very attractive, price-wise. Just can't wait to hear the official word on it but it may take a few weeks until it gets public.

    Re: 997 S Powerkit

well i was interested in a powerkit for the 997.

Should be simular to the already known powerkit for 996

As the engine after all is not different , and should be at promotional price as it has been developed a long time ago, so the guys there have took back their investment

    Re: 997 S Powerkit

any chance this is not a powerkit, but what will be standard on the 06 model? either way 380 is what i have been waiting for to jump in. this is very good news.

For sure not '06 models but maybe after the turbo is introduced the MKII models (face lift ones) will get a 381hp .

You can't be serious. Porsche just introduced the 997 Carrera S and you think they'll offer a power upgrade for free after one year? Forget it. The powerkit will be an option, as always in the past. I just hope that Porsche is "fair" enough to offer the 380 HP powerkit at a "convenient" price tag. Many 997 Carrera S buyers are happy with their cars but aren't happy with the power figure. 380 HP from the start would have been just right, Porsche "owes" us a FAIR price tag for the powerkit.
Any price tag above 6000 Euro would be NOT fair.

I know, 25 HP aren't much of a power gain. But they should lift the 997 Carrera S performance almost to a 996 Turbo Cabriolet performance level. And this is just right.

    Re: 997 S Powerkit

Yes I know I am a dreamer, but they did up the power on the 993 after one year. Times have changed though. Why would they do it for free when they can make more money on powerkits. They know their market all to well.

I agree 100% Porsche should have came out with 380hp on the S originally, it would have made it the perfect car. This is still good news though, assuming they do not over charge for it.

    Re: 997 S Powerkit

RC wouldn't a 997S + power kit cost more than 997GT3 (when it comes out)?

    Re: 997 S Powerkit

i agree RC this cant happen one year later and 380?? come on guys people at Porsche are not that stupid!! They have some marketing consultants you know..
As for the price of the powerkit RC i dont think they will show pitty to carrera S owners and offer it at low price.

After all money and profit IS the issue here.

    Re: 997 S Powerkit

I'm waiting for the official info on the kit, AND THE PRICE. I'm itching to upgrade my car (and I don't even have it yet!), but I'm hoping that the price doesn't give me a migrain.

    Re: 997 S Powerkit

It would be better to install it in Germany. Along with the PSE. Here in Greece they think that eveything has to be double price.

    Re: 997 S Powerkit

say that again man!! Xaire Ellines!:)

    Re: 997 S Powerkit

no need for powerkit. 355 is fine for the 997s. anybody who want more should go for the turbo. a different animal.
i had a 996 turbo previous to the 997. prefer 997 and cannot wait for 997 turbo.

I would take the GT3. I guess the "S" with PK will cost more or the same like a new GT3.

    But that's only my opinion!

    Re: 997 S Powerkit

An S with powerkit should still be 15k less than a GT3. Plus a GT3 is more of a track/street car. I don't need that since I already have a track only car.

A turbo on the other hand is completely different heavier, AWD, aerokit, etc A lighter rear wheel drive car is a better fit for me.

An S with a PK would be ideal.

    Re: 997 S Powerkit

I'd love more power for the 997S, don't need a GT3 (to raw) and don't like AWD (turbo).

    Re: 997 S Powerkit

I agree. I don't want the Turbo with all it's styling nightmares in the name of function. There is ALWAYS "need" for more power, no matter how satisfied you are with what you've got.
