HELP! What color???

I am going to place the order for a 987S and I really struggle with myself about the color. The interior will be black full leather but the exterior???

I am chosing between black, red, yellow or silver. First I was totally in for silver - classy, elegant, practical. But then I think it maybee will be a little boring. Any suggestions or good pictures to help me?

red and yellow are no colors for a porsche. do you want a red car? Buy a ferrari

I'd say black, or else true atlas grey... also very dark, with a hint of blue, very beautiful.

Joost is right. Forget yellow. Red might be fun (check canadian driver article) but I think there's a danger of being fun for a while and then it gets to bee too much.
Black doesnt underline the shape of the car and easily looks dirty.
Silver is always nice, but perhaps too conservative (mine is silver...) but like Joost says Atlas grey or my favourite SEAL GREY! It is absolutely stunning.
Ill see if I can find a picture of one. I think one of the guys in here has one in that color.

I know the feeling - after endless thoughts I went for GT silver. Classic i guess.

Nice with so many Scandinavians here...

On order: 987S, GT Silver, Full black leather, PASM, Sport Chrono, Sport Steering wheel, Heated sport seats, Bose, Xenon and more ,for April delivery (just after the snow has gone).

Do you want to be noticed?

If so maybe yellow or red will work for you, however, I had a yellow Boxster S and grew to feel uncomfortable with it. It shouted out too much "look at me". It was striking and gorgeous but I grew tired of the attention quickly. Red is only a notch down from yellow as far as attention. After those two, black is magnificent as long as you like to wash and detail your car every day. I'd suggest seal grey or GT silver (though it's stupid expensive)

I guess that's why so many Porsche catalogues show Porsches in Red and Yellow, and why most cars magazines use red Porsches...

Maybe they are running a conspirancy campaign ala nberry for people to buy Ferraris....

What can I say I have red, and the only other color I would choose would be Basalt black. I posted some pics today of a beutifull 987 S BB, check them out.

I've got Slate Grey ordered for my 987S because it fits my personality (if that's the proper way to describe it). My wife wanted Forest Green Metallic 911 cabrio. I can totally see her in it.

I think you should choose a color that reflects your individuality/personality. Hope that helps

oh sh!t, I ordered my spd yellow and now you guys are making me worry...
it is a very striking color no doubt, but "yellow is no color for a porsche" ? isn't that a little harsh on poor old me? But you guys are right on the getting tired of the attention part I could imagine. Is it really that bad? I mean, a 987s is pretty much all I can afford and I can't see myself buying a Ferrari in this life-time and that's why I wanted an EXCITING color and went w/ the yellow. (I can always get a metallic blue/black on say...a BMW 3series)

Any comment on my comment?

I was in my dealer's yesterday taking a first look at my own car which is in the showroom with at least half a dozen other Boxsters. There was a brand new Guards red 987 and it looked very good. I was having doubts about my own choice of arctic silver / blue / blue but I have to say the doubts totally disappeared as it looked fabulous in the showroom, especially with the Carrera S wheels and coloured wheel centres.

This next week is probably the very best time for prospective UK buyers to visit their dealers as there will probably not be so many new cars waiting to go out at any other time of year.

I thought about getting yellow. I saw 986 at the dealer with yellow belts, rollbar and console. It was pretty sharp. The only interior that goes with that imo is black. I didn't want a black interior with Phoenix weather so I went with silver, blue. The one thing about silver is that the rollbar and side intakes blend in nicely. I was worried about that with the yellow. Dealer said the intake could be painted but it just started to seem like a hassle.

"Lifetime" is the keyword here.
You only live once-so make the most of it.
If yellow is what makes your dingaling go boogaloo, then stick with it.
There is no holy grail when it comes to the color af a car - IMO the only truth is what your taste commands you to choose.

No doubt the yellow will attract more attention than the silver e.g., but it's a Porsche. People will forgive you for being "loud" in the traffic

From being a child I have always wanted a red Porsche.
When It came time to spec. my 987 I convinced myself that silver/grey were the safe colours for resale, my family talked me into black looking best (when clean!). I set off to the dealers with black/black/black written down. Fortunately they had 4 987's in, one of which was red and looked fantastic.
I thought, sod it, it's my money, my car, I'm having RED.

Go with your gut instinct. What color makes you say "whoa" that's awesome - when you first see it.

Thank you all for the encouragements(DrPhil,Boothy & JP66). I sure needed it. Yellow could be a lil loud I guess and I really need a pair of hard ones to back it up. I've also asked RichJ in the other post about seeing a spd yellow in person and how it looked. I hope this doesn't seem like "nagging" to you guys... thanks!

My Guards Red Boxster S with Sand Beige interior (and Black top) should be here in about a month. Cocoa top with guards red sounds a bit funny to me as well...but I'm looking forward to seeing pictures of it.
