    GT3 vs GT3 Clubsport

I have started looking for a GT3 Clubsport (LHD). Increasingly I am thinking that I should be better of with a standard one and bucketseats (to which I add a rollover bar). There seem to be more cars at better prices. The only real difference is then the smaller flywheel standard in the Clubsport and that the seats are made of fabric. Am I missing anything else in my consideration? Is there any exclusivity value of owning a true Clubsport?

What are peoples thoughts. I am sure there are enough who own either.

    Many thx

    Re: GT3 vs GT3 Clubsport

the clubsport doesnt have a smaller flywheel, only the seats, fire extinguisher, rollbar, 6pt harness.

I believe the Clubsport did have the lighter single-mass flywheel on the Mk I GT3 (from 99-01 or whatever), but now you have to get the GT3RS in the Mk II (04-05) to get that...

    Re: GT3 vs GT3 Clubsport

i assumed he was talking about the MK2 you're probably right about the MK1 (i'm not one to comment, im not familiar with that one)

    Re: GT3 vs GT3 Clubsport

The 911 GT3 Clubsport package features a fully integrated bolt-in roll-over bar which is easily upgraded to a full racing roll cage for circuit use. The bucket seats are finished in flame-retardant fabric. Other on-board features include the preparation for a battery master switch, a red six-point racing harness for the driver's side and a fire extinguisher with mounting bracket.

    Re: GT3 vs GT3 Clubsport

With the exception of the full roll cage there is no real reason to get one. Standard with bucket does the trick. Plus they seem to be offered cheaper and are more plentiful...

    Re: GT3 vs GT3 Clubsport

i'd personally prefer the CS fabric bucket seats, because you don't slip in them (the leather buckets are quite slippery IMO).

if you are not going for the clubsport but maybe planning to use your GT3 as a daily driver, you should think about the sport seats -- at least you can fold their back and put some cargo behind the seats. this space is nearly unreachable with the bucket seats installed.

Re: Is it worth Re-leathering a car?

Interesting comment on the leather. Although with my stature the seat fits very snug already. Plus on track where it counts I would use harnesses.

And the car will not be my daily drive.

Another question though. Potentially I have found a good CS car but it has synthetic leather covering the door and dash. It looks so cheap in my mind. The dealer suggested to releather it? Anyone have any experience? Dumm idea?
Needless the cost of doing it would be reflected in the price I would be willing to pay for the car.

if you want a more noble look, go for a non-CS. the CS is a work tool, and that why it's so cool IMO. but anyway, the plastic dash isn't that bad looking on late 996 models. i'm pretty satisfied with the quality of my GT3 RS' cockpit, although i've owned a 996 C2 with full leather interior before.

Re: Is it worth Re-leathering a car?

I bought my Mk1 GT3 Clubsport second hand so I must have been lucky the original owner specified the leather dash, doors and rear panels. Definately looks/feels better than the plastic option

Re: Is it worth Re-leathering a car?

It goes with the charecter and intent of the car. Having the full leather is a bonus, but I wouldn't mind the synthetic plastic on a GT3 CS or RS. If you really have set your heart on a full leather spec, either get one that comes like that from the factory or compromise and go for the standard look.
